Hi there I hope this is the right place to ask but I'm ill and feeling awful. I started with back ache and a pain in the right chest area on Thursday night this didn't go and I started with a temperature of 38.4c. Yesterday my temperature was 39.6 on waking up and I was wheezing and had a cough. I ended up at the out of hours GP who was telling me I was very ill and may need hospital care. Anyway by the time he had finished with me he told me if I couldn't get a prescription I would be staying unluckily the pharmacies were shut but luckily thy found some stored meds in a & e. The steroids and antibiotics have helped
But I feel so so ill. I have tried to eat but even after healthy food I have been sick so there's no point trying. I'm breathless, I'm dizzy and feel generally 'out of it.' Has anyone else had similar problems and for over it quickly? Thanks xxx

Hello @Nicolaw welcome to the forum. Sorry to hea4 you are so rough. To be honest , I think you need expert help NOW. If by the time you read this you and Haven’t already done so, I think you need to contact your out of hours service now . So please don’t hesitate to call them esp as you can’t keep anything down.

Sometime we can keep down fluids such as soups , milk etc that we sip at slowly, or really tiny amounts of food

I don’t t know which type of Diabetes you have nor how it’s being treated, the general rule is don’t stop taking your diabetic meds, if you’re on insulin you should test for keytones do you know what they are and your blood glucose levels ?

When you feel able please let us know how you are.

Hello Nicolaw

Sorry to hear you have been having such a rough time. Not sure what help anyone can offer here as no one is medically qualified. I can’t see I f you have diabetes from your post, but if you do, have you been monitoring your blood glucose levels?

Have you tried calling 111 or as Lin says, contacting your local out of hours GP service either of those seem like the right thing to do if your surgery is closed over the holidays - though they may be reopening today?

Hope you can get the right help soon.

Hello

I have only just read this and I apologise for this. I was admitted to hospital and have been really ill. I am now home and on a third lot of antibiotics and steroids and my appetite is returning. My blood sugars are now better controlled now I don't have so much infection or a temperature. From now on I look after myself as well as my hubby and children. I neglected myself and didn't realise how ill I really was. Thanks for your responses. Nx

Glad to hear you got the help you needed and are on the mend Nicola 🙂 What sort of diabetes do you have? Whichever type, steroids can cause blood sugars harder to manage.

Glad to hear you’re on the mend. It’s bound to have taken a lot out of you, so please take care and don’t push yourself to do everything like yesterday ok.
