After the last telling off for not contacting them after getting blisters, looks like another visit is on the cards. With a crazy sleep pattern just woke up to find one of my toes is completely black under the nail with no sign of any injury :( . No recolation of catching my toe, even been good at wearing slippers and shoes all the time and checking my feet :(

Oh no! What a mystery Pav - hope you can get an appointment through soon and don’t get too much of a telling off.

Hope you get an appointment soon Pav and its nothing serious.

Oh no, I hope you don’t have to wait too long for an appointment. Hopefully it’s just a bruise , but it’s best to get it checked out.

Close inspection this morning and the all of the nail area is black, along with a small pin prick black spot on the skin just off to the side of the nail. think it will be bye bye nail, so annoying I don't remember catching my toe on anything and there's no other bruising on or around the toes. The only difference to any other day was the nerve pain was bad last night, though back to normal for me today.

Phoned up the hospital team, got to go and see them or my doc, teams are fully booked apart from drop in centres in awkward places managed a docs appointment this afternoon to my surprise.

Fingers crossed everything’s ok. Please let us know how you get on.

I hope everything goes OK at the appointment pav. Make sure the GP is fully aware of how serious foot problems can be for people with diabetes - many of the posts we get here suggest a lot of them don't take the diabetes into account or underestimate the risks.

That's the one scary bit, the doc I am seeing is one from my orig practice that I left years ago because of poor care, only good point he was one of the better docs.

Good luck with your appointment

A bit surprised, the doc actually listened and was happy to check things out.

The toe is infection free at the moment and just got to keep an eye on it and is just very badly bruised, only prob no feelings are left in the toe, which is no surprise to me. Also arranged a full set of blood tests as I was not happy with my levels rising, including blood counts due the the annoying anaemia plus all the other usual ones thrown in for good measure. Just don't know how it became badly bruised as no other bruising around the toe.

There are no records of any follow ups after the scans I had last year to see what's causing the anaemia, so another one to chase up to see what's going on. Also he agreed to provide support in trying to loose weight, just need to make an appointment with a trainer which is in house to start the ball rolling.

All in all it sounds like a good appointment. Do keep a close eye on it though, it might also be a good idea to make an appointment with the podiatrist anyway to have a proper foot tickling session as well as getting that toe checked out if it is still bruised .
I hope he does chase up the results of the tests you’ve had done and that they are all ok.

I have my usual 2 to 3 monthly check ups towards the end of Jan, and definitely will be keeping a close eye on it, I like my toes attached to me :D

Not had a full toe tickling and nerve conductivity test for years as I am in the high risk category and the nerve damage has been done and beyond repair. It's down to me and the regular check ups to report any further deterioration. One of the podiatrists did a foot tickling test the last time, toes are a bit dead in feeling just down to the level of the nerve pain as to how much feeling there is in them, which i partially blame on my orig docs who offered not help with any problems.
