How did you find it. I'm in slimming world and although it's good idea find it can be a bit carb heavy eg lots of fruit, mug shots etc

Do you use facebook? there are loads of helpful groups on there
Tbh i think you would benefit from going to group the first week, just to get the new member talk and the books, then you could go it alone, also you are a better lady than me, i couldn't do it without going to group as i need the discipline of knowing i will get weighed, but what ever works for you.
I have directed a few people here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?p=73605352&posted=1#post73605352 they are very helpful, i also post there
There is a weight loss thread on here also i will find you the link

I find it great, i dont eat many carbs, never have mug shots, but i do eat alot of fruit but it does not affect me and my BS now stays around 5.5 and i am no longer in the diabetic range, i eat loads of fresh veg/meat/salad

will it have the same effect on me with being type 1 x

But if you eat fresh veg /meat/fish/salad surely that should be fine?

That's fantastic, I've lost nearly 3 stone over a year but I've put about 5 lbs back on. I'm going back tomorrow to start again. I think where I used to go wrong with sw was that I liked the carbs and ate more than my body could cope with. That's a great loss youv had you must be buzzing! ☺

Thanks, i am pleased yes but i am too hard on myself😳 i stayed the same this week and it really annoys me when i have been on plan. I need 9lb too my target :D
Mugshots are syn's now anyway

I went to slimming world once to lose a stone. I was not overweight but I had been taking part in research and my body fat percentage was 36% which is a bit high. I think I am one of these TOFI people who do not look overweight but have visceral fat. Anyway, I went to Slimming World and thought it was very good. I am not sure whether it is for pre-diabetics or diabetics though because they advocate unlimited fruit which, when I was pre-diabetic last year, my GP thought was not a good idea. She said I should cut it to an absolute max of 3 a day.

That is what I do now. I am lucky that I love vegetables and salad. I have a friend recently diagnosed pre-diabetic who hates both and I have no idea what to suggest to her. I don't have problems with apples or berries but I was eating an awful lot of bananas, mango, pineapple and also dried fruit (the latter before I went to bed - horror of horrors!!). I watch the carbs and test periodically now. My results went from pre-diabetic to normal levels but I am still being careful as that pre-diabetes was a huge shock.
