Hi Forum , Got a "high five" from my cool Dietician, then chatted about Blood Sugar Levels, we both agreed that GLICIAZIDE had done it's job, and was no longer required, was warned that if I gained weight, back on it, was advised to maintain a good healthy Diet, keep exercising. Then chatted about METFORMIN 500mg 2X Daily, we both agreed that the METFORMIN would stop my Blood Sugars getting High, so my Dietician suggested that I could " Self Monitor" when ever I feel the need. Definitely will not feel the need EVER! MMMmmmm let's hope so. The Main factor was my Blood Sugar Levels dropping from 111 in August 2017 to 31 in November 2017, losing nearly Four Stone in weight from end of July 2017 and the Medication. Cheers clive55555

This is good news, you’ve worked hard.
Tbph I think it would be wise to do some self monitoring just to keep an eye on things or when trying out new foods.

Congratulations @clive555555!

Great to hear you’ve had an appointment that you found so helpful. Hope your results continue well without the Glic - might be worth keeping an eye on things occasionally during that transition? (But only if you think it would be helpful)

Hi Gonna have a weekend off from self monitoring, my next appointment is December 6th with the Diabetes Clinic at my GPs, so gonna Self Monitor closer the date, so we will have some idea of what happening without the Gliclazide. Hopefully I can recognised a Hyper or a Hypo. So cheers for support all the best clive555555

Hi Forum
Had a chat with my Diabetes Nurse, I told her, I had reduced my Metformin from 2X 500mg Daily, to 1X500mg Daily. I mentioned I wanted stop taking the Metformin, and she agreed. Explained that I was self monitoring, until I am sure that my Diabetes is stable, she said that was a good idea. So Diabetes Bloods in Feb 2018. Wish the Heart Problems were as easy, to deal with. My weight today is 12stones 13lbs, still losing weight, interested to see if weight loss, still happens when no more Metformin. I wonder how much a 4stone weight loss, helps control Diabetes with exercise, diet and medication. Cheers clive55555

Awesome news Clive

That was a very positive appointment Clive55555 ~ all your hard efforts have paid off so very well done my young man! Good idea to keep testing and very well done on the weight loss, I know it's not easy to shed the pounds. Proud of you Clive. Keep to your current diet and continue to exercise on your bike when you are able, both of which will contribute toward maintaining safe bgls, Take care x

Thanks Wirral Lass , My Flask arrived, now have my Night Medication with nice hot peppermint tea, and a bonus is the peppermint is just warm for my Morning Medication, No more brain freezes with ice cold drinking water. So thanks for the idea, cheers clive55555. House at 47oF at the moment?

Hi Nick, Losing weight this time, was easier, I am eating the same foods but, COUNT CALORIES & CARBS, the last 1stone 12lb, are going to be difficult, because I have to work out how to eat less?, with my stomach shrinking, it maybe easy, who knows? Cheers all the best clive55555

Good news Clive! 🙂
Cheers Northener, it was good news, Now I know you are a "Tripe Eater" from the losing White Rose County, my house is 48 degrees, NO HEAT on in any room at the moment, Will see if Jack Frost paints the windows. PS my house was newly built in 2000 when I bought it, I sold my lovely Old Rambling Property, and now instead stone and comfort , I have breeze block and draughs. cheers all the best clive55555

Hi LJC, Good advice , I very rarely try "NEW" foods, the last I remember was KWIKWI Fruit in the 1980s. I stick to my fortnightly food plan, and have my food delivered by Sainsburys. I have very rarely ever bought ready prepared meals. But self monitoring is more important than I expected, especially with the prospect of no longer doing it. Cheers all the best clive55555
