Hello I'm Julia and I'm 40 years old

I was diagnosed with type one diabetic on the 26th November 2015 I take humlin insulin and I take metformin 4 times a day and I don't do any exercise but I was told toHello Julia and a warm welcome to our supportive forum. Sorry to hear you are type1 but glad that you made your way here as there's a huge amount of knowledgeable and experienced folk here. Do please let us know a little about yourself so that we may help you. How did you come to be diagnosed and how have you been managing your diabetes since your diagnosis ~ what insulin are you on and/or medication are you taking? Do you exercise ie walk cycle swim?

Diet control and exercise only
I have a lot of lows and I don't like it I'm always telling people I don't like itWelcome to the forum @Julia maria mcCoulough. What is your experience of diabetes? What is important in your life?
I've got a diabetes nurse and a doctor at my hospitalHello Julia. Sorry to hear you have lots of lows. Do they form any pattern, e.g. always at the same time of day, or after exercise? Have you tried keeping a BG and food diary and going through it with a nurse or dietician? Sorry I don't know if you are under the care of a diabetes clinic or your GP, if you're type 1 you really should be under a clinic where you can get support from different professionals.
Yes I've been told to reduce it on a Thursday and I'm not disabledI've yet to find anyone that likes it Julia - but it's something we're all stuck with - so actually it's better for all of us if we try hard to get used to it as soon as we can - and discover the best way of handling it, so it has the least possible effect on our future health and the rest of our lives.
Have you been taught how to adjust your insulin to try and avoid some of those low BGs?
And - for what reason do you not take exercise? for all we know about you so far cos you haven't told us hardly anything yet - you could have some physical disability. Can you tell us please?
This IS a condition where 'God helps those who help themselves' - and what we do, ourselves, every day, really DOES help us.

I walk all day at work I'm supposed to do exerciseGood to learn a bit more about your life, Julia. Could you fit some walking or cycling into your daily routine? Eg between home and work and / or shops?
