Thanks. Now I need to get the letters in the right order lol and a bit of exercise

Great news Carol. Well done🙂

Glad to hear HbA1c ( that's always such a pain to type) is going down. It's always a relief to see the figures and know they're heading in the right direction!

Don’t want to be a bore. Gp was great, smiling widely and pleased at HbA1c, and suprised that I didn’t think it had come down enough. He said 20% reduction is a great progress. We discussed test strips but I knew I wouldn’t get anywhere so did get my point across about self management and tools to do it. He had a few chuckles at my response to having double figures after rich tea biscuits and weight loss effects of meds. I told him I didn’t want to be a skinny Minnie, although I have got there, so would just have to have a rich tea biscuits.for my weight. Other results except thyroid fine, so looks like it’s my body sort of catching up with thyroxine and body catching up with itself with weight loss, diabetes etc. He was empathetic about diabetes constantly being in my head. To change thyroxine dose, go back in three months, and when I asked when next BG test, he said usually a year. With a great deal of cheek, I asked if because he wouldn’t give me test strips, could I get Hba1c done then as well?.... result.. ok. Te he.

The proper regime when no test strips are supplied is three monthly HbA1c tests. Apparently that is cost effective. It might be worth telling him that. A year is too long. It’s certainly long enough to go completely off the rails.

Well done for getting the HbA1c down, though. And you’re right, you are quite skinny enough, any more loss and you’ll be falling down storm drains.

Ah, will remember that. I agree about the going off the rails, it’s so easy to have the diabetes denial and just munch.

Just imagine the wee cracks I could fall down if I didn’t wear my chunky jumper?. well better go and look for food before I get really hungry and reach for whatever I can cram in

Well done, Carolg, for heading in the desired direction! A big pat on the back from me.😛:D😛

Thanks for this. I appreciate the support here.

Well. Done Carol 🙂
Thanks Alan. At least doc listened and probably went for his coffee break relating the tale of the wee crazy old lady with the bl&£#y rich tea biscuits and him having a giggle. You know the worst of it, I don’t even awfully like rich tea biscuits. . Joking aside, I am reassured that all’s well except thyroid so will try to comply with D.take care. Carol

That isn't something I've heard - and certainly not what my practice wanted to do - I was told a year and had to push for 9 months. Test strips were never an option.
