Im continuing to test my BG after coming off metformin (GD suspected T2..) before my hb1ac in a couple of months time and finding that my lunch today - two hours post - has made me a 7.3. Pitta hummus and carrot sticks. Usually pitta hummus and pepper sticks leave me a good 6.8 (on metformin it was more a 5.4!) so guessing it was the carrots?

But last nights carb heavy dinner was only a 6.3!

Makes no sense!!

I don’t think I’m T2 as I’m never usually over a 6.9 two hours post food and my HbA1c on metformin three months after Baby was 5.5 (37mmol) but they shouldn’t have tested me while still taking metformin hence the restest!

Can be so many other factors at play Joanna and both are superb numbers so I wouldn’t fret at all.

thank you! With those numbers in your opinion if I keep in the 6-7mmol post meals, my HbA1c should come back as clear again?

It certainly should joanna. An average 7 on your meter would give a Hba1c of about 42 (48 is diabetic level) but it depends how much you’re testing and when. There are periods in the day when we don’t know our b/g levels.
You’re doing really well with those levels though 🙂

I’m testing first thing and I’m usually anything between 5.2-5.6mmol. I then also test before meals and two hours after meals...

Hello Joanna

Completely agree with @Amigo - those levels are excellent.

The 6.8 and 7.3 you mention if your first post are only 0.5mmol/L apart, and depending on a number of factors/the meter used could easily have been produced from the same drop of blood one strip after another.
