Dear forum members
So far I did not know that there is a forum community for diabetes, just came across this while searching for above question on Internet.
I am a parent (Father), my daughter has been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in Feb 2016, which is the worst that happened to us. We live in Leicester, UK.
Just a quick question please, do we need medical exemption certificate for getting free NHS prescriptions?
When we admitted my daughter into hospital last year, doctors told us prescriptions are free, but nobody mentioned about certificate, since then we are getting free prescriptions, but am not sure if we need a exemption certificate.
Could anyone answer please?
I spoke to one other parent, but she mentioned that my daughter is less than 16, and no exemption certificate is needed. But I want to make sure that is right, because Diabetes UK website tells any person under age 60 are entitled to free prescriptions, but need to apply for medical exemption certificate.
Thanks
Ranjith
