Well done all weight losers. I am hoping to join your ranks. 🙂

Vince...I have a small KitKat just before bed to try to head off liver dump...liver dump is when glycogen stored in the liver is turned into glucose...our liver releases it into the blood stream...so our blood glucose can go up in spite of not eating for several hours... usually happens when it has been a long time since your last meal...to help us get ready for the day ahead...give us that burst of energy we need to get started...since I am insulin resistant...the glucose doesn't get into my cells...hangs around in my bloodstream...pushing my waking numbers up...doesn't happen to everyone...& doesn't work for everyone...however...convinced it helped me bring down my waking levels.
Ah Bubbs I understand now. Forgive my ignorance. Still don't fully understand the mechanics of diabetes yet.

Vince give yourself a chance...you've only been diabetic a very short while...I knew absolutely nothing when I arrived here last year...more knowledgeable now...but...still learning all the time.

Also known as ‘dawn phenomenon’ part of the body’s Circadian Rhythm (you pick up all sorts of weird bits of info after diagnosis!). Happens to everyone, diabetes or not, to varying degrees - but it can be pretty frustrating with a wonky pancreas/metabolism. Some people find that eating something - usually lowish carb, but with fat and/or protein, like a cracker with chunk of cheese, can keep the liver happy and make it realise fuel is available and there’s no need to dump glucose to start the day. Not heard of anyone using a KitKat before, but as with all things Diabetes, YDMV* and you have to find what works for you as an individual - if KitKat works for Bubbsie, then that’s great! 🙂

How bizarre believe I already said that in a simple uncomplicated manner...must be an echo?

For me it's a handful of peanuts. That works well.

Just adding some more terms of reference and thoughts on pre-bed snack in case Vince or any other member reading wanted to investigate further Bubbsie. Often helpful to hear similar information from more than one source phrased differently, don’t you find?

Tried that...not bad...but the small two finger KitKat seemed to work for me...may switch back to a handful of nuts nearer next review...join you on the diet & exercise step Mark...being extra 'diabetically' virtuous for now.

Simple answer...NO...I've never found verbosity appealing:D:D:D.

I had never heard of the term Liver Dump never mind understand it. Now I do. Thanks Gals and Guys.

Haha! Well, we all have our likes and dislikes, and preferences in people’s posting styles - that’s what makes up a rich community 😛

Odd you should mention that...with over 5000 likes...I'll be presumptuous then...assume I am doing something right...assume somebody here appreciates my posting style😛😛😛...I believe there's only one member here that objected to my posting style...I couldn't name them could I😉😉😉...wouldn't be fair...or within the guidlines😛😛😛

You were criticising my posting style Bubbsie, I don’t think anyone was criticising yours??

The bedtime kit-kat sounds incredibly appealing to me but alas, I’ve found my body doesn’t agree. I’m convinced it would rather I didn’t eat anything from lunchtime onwards! 🙄 Alcohol keeps the liver distracted allowing for lower figures but it’s not a wise long term strategy either :D

Amigo...discovered it by accident...had wanted to try something to try to get my waking numbers down...was using a plain biscuit...a little difference with that...then one evening had one of those 'sod it' moments...think we all have them from time to time...reached for the KitKat...seemed to work a treat...so continued🙂.

It’s rather a nice discovery to make Bubbsie! 😛
