They’ve caught up with me!

I thought if I kept my head down the surgery would forget my annual review and Hba1c but they’ve remembered me (albeit it a few weeks late) so I’ll have to go. The full battery of blood tests which I’ll have to repeat 3 weeks later for my haematological consult (my poor veins are shot to start with!). No doubt the statins discussion will recommence and I have terrible white coat hypertension which always gets them in a spin.
I’m a few lbs heavier than last year and have been a tad more lax on the carbs but hopefully it won’t be too bad. I don’t see a DSN just the surgery nurse and I’m not convinced she is that switched on about diabetes but it has to be done. Not sure why I hate it so much but maybe there’s an element of guilt there because I could have done better.

Fingers crossed and lettuce leaves until the test is done! 🙄

My GP surgery has not done a review ever since I became a diabetic but the diabetes centre did do it for me a few years ago but apparently it is my GP surgeries job so I have yet another battle on my hands

They should certainly have you on a minimum annual review call up Ally. It shouldn’t be a battle because they get paid for it! I suspect mine is late due to staff shortages at the surgery amongst the nursing staff.

I suspect they get paid for it but they do not do it. It is the same with the flu jab I suspect they claim for it but I get mine done at work.

If GPs got paid for seeing patients rather than just having them on their lists they would be only too happy to see as many patients as they could per day.

It takes a week or more to get a regular appointment with a GP these days in our practice.

Only a week - good grief, that's brilliant! It can be much longer than that at ours and regularly is. They do have emergency appts on the day if only you manage to get through on the phone ..... they actually let you go and just queue up if it's desperate though.

Your numbers haven't really been that bad have they so do try not to worry ~ what will be will be unfortunately ~ heres hoping your result will be better than you expect ~ and Amigo pleeeze drop the guilt complex ~ you're not alone ~ none of us are saints🙄 Good luck hun Jackie x

@Ally beetle . That is bad. Esp as it probably means your not getting the 15 checks you’re supposed to have.

@Amigo . Sorry but you’re post did make me smile as well as reminding me of this.
I had to cancel my last review and kept forgetting to rebook . Anyway i received this letter the other day saying
‘ we have noticed that ........ please make a half hour appointment with nurse x ‘
I’ve never had such a long appointment before, I hope they don’t believe in corporal punishment lol.

Was due to have one in July Amigo...still having them every three months...then decided to stechhhhhhhhhhhhhhh it out to six months...due next week...been well behaved (with the odd blip)...felt reasonably philosophical about it...however as it gets nearer...can feel the anxiety rising...like waiting outside the head mistresses study for a grilling (used to be there so often)...sure you'll be fine...no easy task managing on diet & exercise only...might be going down that route myself...not sure I'm up for that yet!

Very Monty Python Lin...'no one expected the Spanish Inquisition'...🙂🙂🙂...half an hour...can just about manage ten minutes with Dr Max Medication.

That's so disappointing Ally...had such a bad start with my GP/Practice...I took the proactive route...lots of discussion/letter writing to GP...now book my own...diagnosed just over a year...still have reviews every three months...this one left for six months...so possibly if I didn't book them myself would be in the same boat you find yourself in...why not give them a call...book a review...ask why been left so long...so important we know where we are...hope you've been having all the other checks you need...feet...eyes...etc?

Wow...wish it was so at our surgery Ally...takes approximately two to three weeks to get a regular appointment our surgery.

I've been more liberal these last 6 months. Bit of an experiment really. I eat what I want on a Thursday as I go to me Bruv's & he always serves up pudding, though I do have a glass of wine to compensate. My HbA1c is due in Oct & hoping I will still be under 42. At least I manage to recover well from my indulgences. Fingers crossed for you @Amigo

Oh the nurse doesn't worry me Bubs. I've got the 'headmaster' at home making sure I don't linger at the trough too long!
In honesty she was good last time and just encouraged me to manage it in the way that suits me. It's me not happy that I've taken my foot off the brake a bit but I'll have to sort that 🙄

I don't think you have anything to worry about Mark. I think your weight loss has largely tamed your D! 🙂
