Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hello everyone I have type 1, I'm 26 and was diagnosed at 14. My diabetes has gone a bit out of control lately even when carb counting they are still all over the place Does anyone else find this happens when they are extremely stressed?

Hello Stephanie and welcome to the forum.
Yes stress can def upset your blood sugars :( All you can do is fire fight your numbers or if possible alleviate the stress which obviously isn't always possible.

Yep. The times when I have had my highest hba1c and my worst hypos have been at times of heightened stress. I hope you have someone you can talk to about this, if not feel free to rant!

Hiya try and do some exercise if you can when your stressed, I get stressed a lot with my type 1 but I do try to exercise 3/4 times a week and it helps keep the stress at bay, it also really helps my glucose levels too so it s a bit of a win win situation.

Welcome Stephanie
Stressful times mean higher BG, which can in turn cause stress, ...
Don't forget this could mean changes to both basal and bolus. Can you contact your DSN . I find by sharing my results with them they can often spot a pattern that I can't

Two things that got my BG under more control were
- timing my injections/delivery on a pump before re meals
- diong somethings active for at least 15 min after a meal
I was amazed at the difference these made.

It was this Forum and using the book Thnk like a pancreas that helped.

Hope you get things sorted, and you have definitely come to the right place. There Re a lot of very helpful and encouraging people on here.

Thank you that's such great advice 🙂

When I am stressed I go low bg. I have a fairly manual job & up & down ladders all day. Good luck
