Hi I went to the GP as I had caught a bad gastro virus on holiday. A random blood dugar reading was high 12.5. A follow up fasting blood test was also high. I had to wait for 2 weeks to go to the diabetic clinic. I decided to get a blood testing kit and monitor my blood sugar. The readings were not good up to 17. I read up on the internet and decided to write down everything I ate and took reading before and 2 hours after. It's obvious that carbs put the blood sugar up. I went on s low(virtually no) carb diet. At the 2 week GP appointment my blood sugar had gone down to 9/10 with a couple of 8. GP and myself agreed to try diet without any meds. My BS is now in the 6/7 with some below 6 readings. It's not the easiest diet but the results have been remarkable in just 5 weeks.

Hi and welcome to the forum. Its amazing the results that can be achieved in a small space of time.

Thanks Im determined to do everything I can to avoid meds. It's nice that's there a group of people to talk to about this.

Hi Marku58, welcome to the forum 🙂 Well done on your efforts to date - great results! 🙂

It is good to know that it is possible to have good communication with a GP, and arrive at an agreement. And i applaud your decision to take control. Well done so far, and good luck!

Sounds great well done. 3 months ago my bloods were in the late 20s and i felt so ill. Now 5 stone lighter and bloods normal range and blood test tomorrow so helpfully get the all clear. It amazing when you really look at what your eating how many carbs and sugars are contain in food especially processed. What your carbs and sugars good luck.

Wow you've done great. It's hard but if you make the right choices it works. My BS goes up every time I eat carbs so I've virtually removed them from my diet.

Good to know that levels have come down well. I had a similar start as you last week but my levels rose to over 30! (Steroid induced) I cut out carbs for a few days (lost 4.5lbs in 2 days) until I spoke to the diabetic team who told me not to cut out carbs. I am on insulin now and levels are coming down.
Keep up the good work.
