Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
My Bg readings over the last few days:
Morning Lunch Dinner Bed Middle of night
9.5 5.7 4.9 4.9 3.7
4.7 4.6 5.2 3.7 4.1
4.7

All readings are before meals. Do you think they are slightly low. I have a headache and feel a bit lethargic.

The 3.7's are too low, what are you using to treat them? I wouldn't say the others are too low though as guidelines are 4-7 pre meal x

Hi Brian, I am clive55555 diagnosed early August 2017, Type 2, same medication as yours. Besides your 3.7 (which seem low) Your readings are similar to mine, so I think you are OK? More experienced members will surely give you better advice, I make sure I drinks 2 litres of water per day. Good Luck clive55555

Clive and Kaylz thanks for that. I have to contact my SDN on Friday as she has reduced my Glicalizide from 320mg to 240mg and is considering reducing it further. I didn't do anything to treat the 3.7 readings. What would you suggest?

I'm sure Glic can cause hypo's although I may be wrong so sorry to bother you but @Northerner am I right in thinking that and that Brian should have treated? If I am right you should have had say a swig of juice or a jelly baby or something like that but as I say I'm not 100% sure that's why I've tagged Northie x

As you are on potentially hypo inducing meds and anything under a 4 is a hypo, I would personally be trying to get those in the 4's a little higher to give yourself some 'wriggle room'. Don't forget that if you drive you are not allowed to do so under 4.0 and if below 5 it is recommended to eat something to get your levels up a bit.
I use dextro tabs to treat any hypos ( from pharmacy), and depending on my BG and how near to my next meal it is will depend how many I need - between 1 - 3.

Hi Brian, Personally when I drop low, I have a couple of Dextros Glucose tablets or small scoup of Ice cream, everyone seems different, good luck and all the best clive55555

Thanks everyone for your words of wisdom and advice. Brian

Spoke SDN yesterday and she was pleased with my readings and told me to reduce evening Gliclazide from 120mg to 80mg. If still getting lows then reduce further again. Thanks everyone for your support.

Just an update. From my Hba1c of 88 in July, I have gone on a low carb diet and am exercising daily. I have lost 9Kg and I have just got my results from my latest Hba1c which was taken on Tuesday. The result is 51 and I am extremely happy with that. Thank you everyone on this forum for your support.
