any help much appreciated

Hi Brownie welcome. It does come as a shock doesn't it.

I'm a bit concerned that you are losing weight without really trying, did this start before or after diagnosis.
How high does your blood glucose go.
Sorry for all the questions, it's just that it will help others advise you.

Basically it's the fast acting carbohydrates we need to ease up on.
Potatoes esp mashed, White bread, pasta, and rice. Fruit juice is full of sugar as are grapes, we do have to be carful with fruit, berries are often tolerated better.

As substitutes Perhaps have two small new potatoes, burgen (sp) bread or Lidle protein rolls. Cauliflower rice .

To give you a few ideas. If you eat meat, all meat is fine including high meat content sausages (I like black farmer sausages) and burgers, milk, Cheese, butter, cream, mushrooms, some nuts are low in carbohydrates, veg that grows above ground, eggs cooked anyway you like.
I use a sweetener in my coffee and diet drinks are fine, I have Coke Zero.

Now I have a little light 😉 reading for you.

Hello and welcome to forum.
could you keep a food diary and ask for a dietitian review. When I was diagnosed, weight had been dropping off but then stabilised as glucose levels reduced.
I would suggest you take a notebook to doctor appointments and ask all the questions you have. Ask here as well and no question is a daft one.

hi guys
thankyou for your replies,i was diagnosed two years ago, havent had my bloods tested since last october, think i got a bit slack with my diet been as my last levels were stable, then started feeling unwell, went for a check and blood glucose up,i think i know myself i dont drink as much as i should or eat properly, but this is a wake up call ,i have started a food diary along with checking my bloods as told before and after meals, because i am also going through the menapause,i dont know whether im coming or going !!!
oh and to your question LJC i do go to the gym but not very often so weightloss not through that, but have mentioned to the doctor, and my reading was 13 when tested, although it is going up and down at the moment, only 4 days into testing myself and now on 2 metformin a day and 1 gliclazide.
thanks for the links too,i think im making the mistake of not having much meat, maybe why my weight is dropping,i had a major panic, but need to make a plan and stick to it

hi all
well ive been testing my blood for nearly two weeks now,as advised by doctor, never knew how much levels can go up and down,im still trying to find the right balance of foods that dont make my levels go up,although sometimes i have the same breakfast for two days and my levels are different.
im still having a bit of lightheadiness, but not sure why,can get it and my sugar level when tested is ok,find it all very confusing, also have been put on an extra tablet,so have 2 metformin a day and one glizacide, and wear glasses for reading, but finding watching tv and peoples faces slightly blurry a few feet away could this be the new tablet, any help much appreciated
