Hi guys i was diagnosed type 2 last month gutted !! My result was 11.1 i think 2 hour after the glucose drink i went out on the raz on a sat night and drank lots of coke sunday the test was monday morning i fasted before the test so it shouldnt have interfered with results should it

Hi Carlton
A warm welcome I'd suggest not drinking coke in future the full sugar one anyway or that will send any test you have for diabetes off the scale.id if drank water personally but you will learn as you go what you need to avoid

Welcome to the forum, Carlton Costello. What tests was done and what units were used? It sounds like an oral glucose tolerance test, so the difference, as well as second result is also significant. Without knowing, it's impossible to comment accurately about the meaning and possible effects of drinking cola, which also depends on whether it was regular / lower sugar / diet.

It was normal coke last year i had same test and was pre diabetes but it has soon progressed into type 2 any way im on metformin going for a blood test in 2 month cut out a lot of carbs and sugar and cut down on beer which was hard any how hope your doing ok ?

Newly diagnosed people good mornig hope u ok ? I didnt help myself on the gtt test by drinking lots of coke and beer the day before and junk food and the test on the monday i had fasted before the test though they said my avarage bloods were good but failed the glucose test my reading this morn 6.1 x

Your hbac1 test is over 10-12 weeks so what you eat and drink the other day won't matter unless you've been indulging a lot 🙂
Your glucose test is actually ok. Realms are 4-7 before eating and no higher than 8.5 after meals. If already high no more than 3.
Welcome to the forum.

Thank you dolly your doing well i dont really go over 8.5 after 2 hours but i do just after it sometimes rockets but the glocose test went just in the diabetes range

Hi Carlton...agree with Dolly 6.1 just a little high...but...overall pretty good...with a little work you should have no difficulty getting that down a little more...just wondering what your HbA1c results were (if you had a one)...sometimes we all need to overindulge on those 'bad things'...I wouldn't worry about that unnecessarily for now...why not tell us a little more about yourself...then any questions you have...or any advice you need will be much easier to offer.

You're on the right track with diet. Cutting down on beer isn't so final as giving up totally - best to enjoy quality, rather than quantity, of pints.
How is your weight? Do you need to reduce it? How's your level of physical activity?

Thanks the nurse said my avarage results were good im on metformin 3 a day my glucose test put me just in diabetes range of 11.1 or whatever it is i had a heavy night out on the sat night drank lots of coke on the sunday but that was rather silly when test was monday morning but hey ho

I was 15 11 last year 15 3 now i sbould have made more of an effort i losing weight when i was pre diabetes but to late now x

Carlton there is a lot to get your head round with this diabetes lark...it'll come with time...wondering how much you have been told/advised by your GP/DSN about managing your diabetes...in my case it wasn't a great deal...knew absolutely zilch about how to manage when I got here...still learning all the time...if you have any questions ask away...you will get advice & support form forum members with any judgement or disapproval...I was very rigid with my diet...chasing the right numbers...then realised I had to slow down...do things at my own pace...something I could sustain long term...my control is reasonably good a t the moment...taken me nearly a year...but...so far working...there's no rush...be good to see how you progress...keep us updated.
