I've bitten the bullet and ordered one . Can't wait till it arrives.

They are useful bits of kit if you work well with the information they give you. I knocked 1.5% off my A1C using one.

Wow! That's quite a shaving @DeusXM .

I am a part-time user, and whilst my A1c has remained very stable throughout the span of use, I have learned a lot about how my body reacts in certain circumstances, which really improved my confidence in the actions I was already taking.

Nowadays, I tend to slap on a sensor if I'm doing something "odd", or if I know I'll be having new foods or experiences.

It works for some and a lot have said with using it they have managed to lower their HbA1c quite a bit, for me never had one sensor that worked correctly was way out compared to finger pricking even allowing for the time lag between the two. I did find that the history graph was good for showing ones trends and in that way it works very well.

It's on it's way 🙂 I'm looking forward to seeing the trends as well as which direction my BGs are heading. I've been getting some higher than expected readings at times , fingers crossed this will help me see what's going on.

I'm a complete convert. Libre says LO, fingerprick says 2.2. I love it. But then I'm a rabid convert. Don't get me started on smoking and alcohol ....🙂

It's arriving this morning :D. I might need to pick your brains for a while.
I've read on here it's best to apply the sensor 24 hrs Before activating it , so that's what I'll do.

Did that with my sensors after the first one was out by miles.

It's arrived 🙂 I've been reading the manual, giving it a rest for a while though.

Good luck with it. I liked it. Used 1 sensor so far, gonna use the 2nd one next time im on holiday.

Mine arrived last week , just using my first sensor now. Can definitely not afford to use one all the time so was planning on using the second sensor when I next go on holiday - which will probably be the summer. However I just noticed yesterday that it has a use by date of April this year! So I will need to use it before then and order another one for the summer holiday. Am finding it very useful though.

I love the info you get for them 24hrs a day, graphs & which direction your blood is heading. A good tool ! 😎. The info could help people a lot 😉

On my 4th now, but first two a while ago. The third, early Jan was very close to my accu check numbers after allowing for the time lag, but this one seems to have times when it goes high for a while, not in line with bloods. It gets a little scary between the libre result and the accu check soon after. If it doesn't get closer soon I'll contact them and see what they say. (yes, I did leave it 24hrs before activating and it is about 5 days in now)

I now put next sensor in two days before the previous one ends, and that gives 48 hours before I 'need to' activate it. I find the graphs very useful and using Diasend online I find it great to have all the data from pump, handset and Libre together.

I have a Libre on trial (had 4 days now) and I have to say I love it as it gives me easy, always available readings and had made up my mind to continue to use via private funding post trial (approx £1200/year). However, I have placed sensor on back of arm (as now recommended) but it feels like I am being gently pinched. Although it certainly isn't unbearable its a little annoying. Rang Abbott yesterday and they asked if it the readings were accurate. Hmmmm, I hadn't actually verified, so today checked with testing blood as normal. Unfortunately it appears the Libre is way out. For example Libre reads 13, finger prick 8, Libre 9 finger 6. So I'm now waiting to see what it is when I am round 4-5 on Libre. But I suspect it will be close to finger pricks as I haven't had a hypo since wearing. Really hope it settles down and is fit for purpose becuase as mentioned I really like the idea and convenience. Will up date again after my 2 weeks trial.

Hi @mark-posh , Welcome. I hope it settles down for you. I am thinking you have a faulty sensor. from what I've read on here it does happen occasionally, I would see if its possible to get the sensor replaced.
If you do go ahead and self fund one, I Have found their customer service helpline very good.
I am starting my fourth sensor soon it is already applied, I allow 2 days for them to settle in before activating them. I found there are times when I can feel this soon to be old one, it not painful just a bit annoying where I haven't felt the others at all , I think its the area I applied it to is a bit more wobbly:D the readings though are close to the readings from my meter.
I'm hooked on that graph learnt such a lot from it , plus its helped me prevent a couple of hypo's before they really got started 🙂

If you like, you can start a new thread in the newbies section and introduce yourself. I am assuming your having some problems as you are trialling a Libre , maybe we can help, Apologies if I am wrong

@Love-my-omnipod . I hope you find it helps. I'm betting that when you're sensor runs out you'll really miss it. It's such a shame the sensors are so dear. I do hope one day soon they will be available on the NHS even if only for people having problems.
The graph helped me sort out a few problems I was having 🙂
Please let us know how you get on with your Libre.

It's so difficult, isn't it? 😱 I managed for a couple of weeks without one after my first one, but now I've been wearing the second one for a week I'm already starting to miss it before it's even finished! 🙄 I'm sure others know what I mean :D I'm going through the process in my mind of justifying the cost based on the fact I no longer drink alcohol or smoke, and at today's prices the £25/week for a sensor would equate to a packet of fags and three or four pints at today's prices - I used to get through that in less than a day! 🙂

Even though I've always been relatively well-controlled I have learned a lot from using the Libre - fortunately mine have been pretty much in line with blood tests, so I have confidence in what they are telling me and am doing fewer blood tests each day, but managing to head off a lot of potential lows 🙂
