The bolus reduction for breakfast, woke to a 4.6 (was out from 8 till 3 yesterday so very active and had a biscuit at bed time as was 5.3) no option but to reduce bolus as was suggested by lovely DSN yesterday on the phone when she called for a follow up from last weeks appointment, suggested move to a 1:15 ratio, 29g carb breakfast (well 29.2 actually but we wont fuss haha) result 2 hours later - 5.8, result 4 hours later - 5.3, well I'll take that today then lol, 5 minute gap between injecting and eating so will try again tomorrow and see how it goes x
Yeah....well done you Kaylz :D I've put the flags out on the roof in celebration!!:DKnew you could do it....you just needed a bit of guidance ......and lots of confidence! You're on the right path now. As you know I haven't a clue what bolus & ratio is but hope tomorrow's goes as well as today, will be thinking of you🙂Just as well maths was one of your best subjects at school :D take care hun x

We don't actually need maths these days all the time like we used to - we tell our smart meter our insulin to carb ratio - we test our blood, we enter the carbs we are going to eat - and the meter calculates what insulin we need to deal with it!

Some years ago I was trying 1unit to each 11g of carb. Favourite Consultant 'Oooh - doesn't that make the maths a bit hard?' Me 'Not really to be honest - cos I had to learn all my times tables up to 12x at school when I was quite little and recite them all frequently - plus we possess a calculator - and in any case the flippin meter works it out for me !' :D

Well Jenny, being of a certain age I still think in old money - didn't have calculators in my time at school, all had to be worked out with that grain stuff between our ears - but talking of smart meters - British Gas delivered a leaflet the other day saying they're installing smart meters in our area - and its free🙄 No more meter readings by an Agent - no more estimated bills as the smart meter cleverly sends the readings straight back to BG. How's about that then?
I'm thinking I'll still read the meter in any event!!

I would too WL - and if you change your supplier anyway - a £1 to a penny, the Smart meter won't work with the other supplier! I know ours didn't.

Thanks for that Jenny - Im not with B.Gas and its not crossed my mind to change supplier's just yet - food for thought tho to contact BG check out the position b4 I would even consider having a smart meter installed. Could be BG just looking for more customers - all for the sake of ££££'s!

LOL - at the moment it's fine! we're pleased the early success seems to be continuing.

However we probably won't need to know always, LOL

That's a fabulous result! 🙂 I never get bored of reading about people's experiences, it's especially good to hear when people discover something that really helps and increases confidence 🙂
