Yes, this has been going on since February now. I'm having to wake up at 3am every morning to avoid waking hypos, I really don't want to be doing this!! And the flipping nurse had the cheek to tell me I needed to do another hba1c (even though my last one was in March...) which is pretty freaking pointless while im on the wrong basal and by sugars are leaping about like a stag on crack!!!

I know, it's a bloody nightmare! On the one hand they say you're numbers won't stabilise until your basal insulin is the correct one and dose and on the other hand they can't prescribe it, crazy!

Yes exactly! Really feel like I'm banging my head against a brick wall at the moment. Debating going private just to get this sorted out once and for all but at the same time really resenting the thought of doing that so I don't know. I've just shelled out a ton of money to get my eyes checked properly after NHS told me I had maculopathy but wouldn't see me until November - turns out I have absolutely no maculopathy at all! Normally I am a big defender of the NHS but the service from them recently has been absolutely shocking :(

Really sorry you've been going through this @Sprogladite - hope you can get the insulin switched soon. I find a short appointment with a GP is my best bet (any at my practice, not necessarily the one that is notionally 'mine').

Really hope you get it sorted without too much more hassle.

Well miracles do happen, they have called me back! Hooray!

The lady I spoke with said I sounded really fed up when I left my message lol. They are going to call me on Thursday about getting the insulin switched, they agree that Tresiba or Toujeo sound like good options for me but she wants to do some research on them first as I'm allergic to Levemir and she wants to see how similar the ingredients in them are to Levemir, especially Tresiba as they are made by the same people (although so is Novorapid and I have no issues with that). I'm also doing a carb counting course on Friday so they will check my ratios. Been advised to cut my Lantus dose by 4 units until I get switched and use Novorapid (rapid...pfft) to correct as needed. Hopefully they will call on Thursday and this will be the beginning of the end of this nightmare!

I might need mine changing myself my lantus always gives me low readings during the day now not at night you get told one thing by one person and different from the other am going to a dafne course in September I will make sure I let them know about this and they can maybe change my insulin to

Yes it is very frustrating getting the conflicting advice! I'm waiting to go on a DAFNE course but there's a waiting list of over a year in my area, although I am doing a carb counting course on Friday so hopefully that will give me a bit of a head start!

These days I just take my own advice and abit of what they tell me as I know even they seem unsure yeah it's about a years wait here to I could do with going on a carb counting course to as am mostly guessing what to give
