Type 2
After really careful eating and exercising for a few months now, this morning
i slipped up and have gone a bit overboard on fizzy drinks and chocolate whilst
out with friends at an event. I didn't realise till i got home and started to feel
dizzy. I feel annoyed at myself as i was doing really well at getting the blood
glucose levels down and now i know this will have shot up. I see my nurse in July
and now am dreading this. I have to give a blood sample two weeks before hand.
I'm just worried in case i have to go on medication.
When i saw the nurse back in early April i found out i had reduced my glucose levels
by 19 and was so pleased. Now my halo has slipped! and i feel a right idiot as i
know it's no ones fault but my own.
Am feeling shaky today, so have been drinking water, have had porridge
I was diagnosed with type 2 last Autumn. Am taking part in the Swim22 challenge
and so far so good. It has helped me lose some weight and helped reduce the blood sugar levels. Because of being on medication for epilepsy my memory is not great and i forget things.
Anyone else been in this situation?
Sorry for the grumble.......i know i've just got to pick myself up and get on with it......well definitely swimming when i'm feeling less shaky!
Am i the only idiot who does things like this?

Just put it down to experience and start afresh tomorrow.
One bad day should not have much impact on your HBA1C.
It is hard to keep on track constantly. I strive to have more good days than bad .

Thank you! Thankfully it is just a bad day. I haven't had any fizzy drinks for weeks and weeks do today knocked me a bit. I just wasn't thinking. But am drinking water for the rest of today or herbal tea 🙂

Best thing is never to have a halo, this way it can't slip :D

Hi Kfr. To get back on track on the same day is really impressive. I need a new day to restart efforts. Sometimes a new week! 😱 So well done and I'm sure you won't have done any damage long term from a little blip.

Agree with all the responders Kfr...one afternoon is not likely to impact on your HbA1c at all...I have the odd 'day off' from diabetes...I have to...believe we all do...just use your common sense...out with friends...at an event..why not...cut yourself a little slack here....will do you good to relax on the odd occasion...then come back...refocus...it won't deter you from managing the excellent control you have...just a little incentive for you to look forward to.

What i am slowly learning is that everyone deals with diabetes in their own way and at their own pace. What is right for one person isn't right for another. At times i still get a bit overwhelmed by all the information about diabetes. All that i do know is that i know a wee bit more than i did back in November of last year.

I agree we are all differnt and we have to find what works for us that we can maintain long term.

Comes with experience Kfr...good positive attitude...I have gleaned a vast amount of information here...elsewhere...copious amounts of reading... all since my DX last July...still some way to go yet...I'm learning all the time.

I totally agree Bubbsie. I have read a few things to do with diabetes but have learned so much more from being here. Everyone is so helpful and it has certainly helped me to see what I need to do to control my diabetes.

Thanks to you all!!!🙂

Yes, there is so much information out there, that's why this forum is invaluable as we are living with our D on a daily basis & can advise based on real-life experience.

Hi Kfr. Please cut yourself some slack, we all need a little time off from diabetes . A few hours off isn't going to make any difference to your Hb1ac .
I am actually impressed that you have been able to get back in the saddle so quickly, it usually takes me a day sometimes two.
I was dx (diagnosed) back in the 90s and it's still managing to throw new things at me, I guess we never really stop learning.
