Sorry to hear this Lisa and hope it's nothing too serious. They really need to be helping you more with your erratic levels.

What was said about the results Lisa? I was in this situation a few years ago - I have been seeing specialists at hospital for at least 5 years now and the only actual treatment I have had is a tiny amount of laser (nothing to worry about) about 2 years ago. They have better equipment at the hospital and you will be seen by a consultant. Try not to worry, which I know is hard, but it may be something very minor. In my case it was basically 'background retinopathy' which I had been unlucky enough to get close to the macula - they monitor this very carefully as the macula is an important region of the eye, but it isn't a threat to my sight at all, and there are loads of treatments they can use - monitoring it more closely means that I may not actually need any treatment for a long time to come 🙂

They say I have maculapathy, think that's what it's called anyway build up of fluid don't really know I've just got to specialist see what happens from there treatment wise .. in such a state sorry !!

Same as me then Lisa. What happens is that diabetes can cause abnormal blood vessels to appear on the eye (you can't see them). In the case of run of the mill background retinopathy, these vessels are well away from the important little region called the macula, so can often be ignored, and sometimes disappear of their own accord. However, when they are closer to the macula they need to be closely watched. As I said in my earlier post - they've been doing that for me for about 5 years! Hopefully, you will find yourself in a similar situation to me, and it will remain stable for a long time to come 🙂
