Bergan Bread Soya and Linseed has 11.4 grams of carb per slice knock off the fibre which is 5 grams that means a A slice of bergan Soya and Linseed is only 6.4 grams per slice

Hi welcome
Yeah a few of us on here use it

Just bought my first loaf. have to see how it effects my levels

Love Burgen bread

But surely, in the UK, the fibre has already been deducted from the carb total, it's just in the USA that you have to deduct it. So, it's still 11.4 g, but because it's slow release, it takes longer to show up in my blood sugar levels.

Hi Spence, welcome to the forum 🙂

Yes, @Robin is correct - the fibre is listed separately to the carbs. Burgen (the Soya and Linseed variety) is lower carb than most bread because some of the ordinary flour is replaced by soya flour. 🙂

Tesco finest do a high protein loaf (small 400g 80p) which is about 8g per slice, but smaller slices than Bergen but it does mean you can have a sandwich. I prefer the taste toasted too.

Also try Lidl fresh bakery high protein roll. It's quite heavy but a very filling roll and only 11g per roll. Very nice warmed up in microwave before filling.

Is that roll packaged so we can read the information or just sitting unpacked in a basket.
Would like to give that a try.

It sits in a basket and looks like this

If the label says for example Carbohydrates 10g 'of which' fibre is 2g I presumed one could deduct the fibre and the usable carbs would be 8g. If the label said Carbohydrates 10g then underneath Fibre 2g then I understood it would mean the usable carbs are 10g. I would appreciate correction if I am wrong.

All UK food labels show net carbs i.e. fibre not included. Food labels in the USA show gross where you have to deduct the fibre. I think European food is the same as the Uk. Presumably a EU directive.
