So had a very stubborn hypo yesterday that took about 1 hour and a half and 7-8 jelly babies to sort out, was 12.8 before tea so took half a unit correction which brought me down to 9.4 before bed too risky to correct so left it, woke to 8.4 and didn't take the half unit my meter suggested, problem being I just tested before lunch and I'm down to 5.3 I really don't understand and I'm wondering if somehow it's all linked I don't know any help would be greatly appreciated x

Kaylz. It seems to me that you've made the right decisions in treating/not treating a higher number . I'm guessing here but it might be a rebound of the horrid hypo you had yesterday, though sometimes their seems to be rhyme or reason to why these things happen.
You were under quite a lot of stress too which will upset our BGs.
Hopefully the 5.3 is the start of the good numbers returning.

If I have a bad hype like this I then rocket.

Last night was 3.2 9.30pm, then 5.2 10.02pm, woke up 13.4 at 6.19am.

I know thats why it happened though, I didn't correct as I normally drop in the morning before 8am, and I walk to work. 10.9 7.42am still higher than i like but before breakfast, 8.4 10.57am then 6.4 before lunch at 12.40 so I am happy with that.

Sometimes I prefer the steady drop than the risk of a hypo again.

Hope it behaves now! x

Thanks hun, it's just so frustrating looking at the meter telling me to correct and me deciding if it's worth it or not clearly this morning it would have been the wrong thing to do, I've read about stress etc causing high levels so never in a month of Sunday's to drop like that especially as I was sitting at 6.7 before lunch, I usually sit for a while after lunch but had to get ready to be picked up etc and I feel they might have come up sooner if I could have just sat down and taken time x

I have my fair share of hypos and drink lucozade even a few sips of it sends my levels right up it's like playing with fire

Its so hard isn't it. I usually shoot up after correcting a hypo, but I also worry about dropping again so I guess I probably over correct. As @sunny says it's like playing with fire. Also, like you say it depends on what you will be doing after the hypo, if I have one at work I take into account I've got to get the children I support up and dressed, personal care, medication, usually moving and handling (I work with children with disabilities and complex special needs) so I worry about getting low whilst I am attending to their needs. Therefore I think I have a tendency to overcorrect when at work and I also eat a banana, but I do correct when I've got home, sometimes I've gone back down and sometimes it might be higher. It's all such a guessing game, and with summer approaching no doubt it will get more complicated 🙄

A hypo is much harder to correct if your gonna be active soon after compared to if your sitting down doing nothing then it's easier I had a hypo once corrected it then it dropped again when I was just walking round the house ahhhh I agree it's a guessing game I feel like a petrol station at times

Well i was 6.7 yesterday before lunch so thought right that's fine took my insulin made my sandwich exactly the same as I'd had the day before then an hour later that was it tested at 3.2 had a few jelly babies brought me up to 3.7 had more got in the car tested when the alarm went off exactly the same result shovel some more in and when I tested again I'd slipped back down to 3, I actually had to test in the crematorium at my OH's grans funeral I tested too soon at this point but did it while everyone was singing so I didn't interrupt the service and had managed to get to 4.5 so checked when we got to the wake and was 8.4 and by the time tea came round was 12.8 it was just so frustrating I felt like I'd ruined the whole thing not being able to be by his side like I should have been etc x

As I've just replied it was a bloody nightmare and working out when to correct a high is so frustrating as my suggested a full unit for tea but was far too risky given I'd just had a hypo all seems to have worked out ok though and hopefully it stays that way! Lol xx

Hope you're feeling better today hun xx

I get lows when I'm too hot or I'm due to get my period. Like a few days before.

It's not warm here but when it's hot or on holiday my insulin works better.

Not sure if that helps explain why.

I hate those long never ending hypos. You know at some point you will end up fixing it too much. And even when the levels are okay I still feel low for ages afterwards and can't trust my feelings. Xx

I am just catching up now @Kaylz and how scary and distressing for you. ((((((HUGS))))))))

I missed that bit about when it happened, sorry.

Diabetes never chooses helpful moments.

Like when you have your hair, make up done and put on your wedding dress, then need to test and eat something ha! after that point I was naughty and let myself run higher than normal the rest of the day. It was bad enough having my mum having my little bag of stuff on her all day haha!

I'm sure he understands xx

Oh goodness Phoebe what a way to start your wedding day, yeah he completely understood but it was bad enough having to say goodbye to his gran without worrying about me too, and it was my first hypo in public everyone was staring at me and staring at my mum feeding me jelly babies it felt so awkward x

Now that must've been a challenge!

I had a hypo once when I had an appointment with the diabetic nurse and she gave me orange juice and 2 biscuits that was embarrasing

I guess they're used to it, probably the best place to have one!
I was thinking the same lol, funeral I think is one of the worst most embarrassing places to have one :( x
