Hey guys 🙂 just looking for some guidance, I'm not very clued up on food yet 😳 just wondering if potato waffles are treated the same as chips and that's maybe what is casing the spike at 5 hours after my tea like fat in them or whatever, any help much appreciated 🙂 x
I would treat them as chips, although I steer clear of waffles. Oddly though, I can however eat chips. The secret I have found is to sprinkle them with a fair amount of vinegar, which luckily is how I like them anyway . Any vinegar e.g vinegar on chips, vinegar based salad dressing etc reduces the digestion speed so lesser impact on BG.
Re fat, my understanding from T2 posts on here is that fat should also slow digestion times and lessen impact on BG, hence LCHF diet..?
That is true. Hence why, no matter how many well meaning non diabetic people offer it, chocolate is NOT a good hypo treatment(!) The fat in chocolate slows down absorption of the sugar.

Hi Kaylz
Just wondering what fish you had ?
I eat various fish 3-5 days a week . 2 weeks ago while visiting relations I was served up battered Cod , 2 hours after I tested 12.4 . This learned me that the batter sends my numbers through the roof .
Hope you and yours have a fun day .

Sounds lovely , I'm waiting patiently till 12pm til get a nice bit of yellow fin tuna into the pan . My mrs calls me cat man as im bunkers about all kinds of fish lol .
Enjoy your Sunday .x
I only get it once or twice a week as others in the house hate all fish, unless it's battered and from the chippy lol, enjoy your tuna 🙂 and hope you have a great day too x
If you can manage to eat Sweet Potatoes as chips, mash or anything then that helps a little as well as it is suppose to be better for you. It's great for me and i have come to enjoy them.
But really it's a case of keep testing foods, find out which works for you and making a note of it. Some things works for some and not others or you may find that one day that food works for you and other days it doesn't. No matter where you are in your diabetic journey you are constantly learning. Constantly changing things because things change. So remember as well, don't be hard on yourself 🙂
