Hi, I was diagnosed last week with type II and would like to know if there is anyone else in SE1 who could meet up for a coffee or should I say a pint of water as have so many questions about diet etc, what snacks can be eaten etc. I am awaiting a few books to arrive which will help too and have been put forward for the Desmond Course in Bermondsey Health Centre but that is not until the end of April.

Hi Sally and a warm welcome x
We do have meets on the forum which occur we have one coming up in London in but I'm sure if there's anyone loyal to you it could happen sooner

You are very welcome to ask your questions here in the mean time as for snacks why don't you try some nuts or some cheese? x

Welcome to the forum, You will get lots of support on here. I have nuts as my snacks, but the problem I have is that I eat too many as a snack.

Hello Sally and a warm welcome to the forum - feel free to ask as many questions as you like - if one of us can't give you an answer then it won't be long before someone else will come along to do just that.

I am Type 2 dx in April last year. I live a long way from SE1 so it would be an expensive trip just to meet up for a coffee and chat about diabetes but I think theres quite a few members who live in London or near abouts.

If & when I snack I eat cashew nuts or frozen red berries or blueberries - now & again a rich tea biscuit or chocolate eclair🙂 yes you read right!

We have a thread on here called What did you eat yesterday? You will find that in the general messageboard - and there's a thread with recipes - members post their own recipe & meal ideas so take a look in there too.

Hope you find someone to meet up with you.
Take care
