Just realised with reading all these HbA1c threads that I didn't post about my own review a couple of weeks ago. I've been waiting an extra 5 months for this 'annual' review because the surgery nurse who 'does' diabetes left and they were waiting for a replacement 🙄 Well, the good news is that the replacement is really good! I found her very easy to talk to, she seemed very knowledgeable about Type 1, didn't rush the appointment (took about 40 minutes), and said she was actually interested in meeting me because my version of Type 1 is particularly weird unusual 🙂
HbA1c came in at 34 mmol/mol (5.3%), which is the same as last time - can't complain about that! 🙂
Cholesterol was 4.6, down from 5.2 last time and with a good split - she was pleased with this (apparently the one prior to that had been 6.2) and didn't push the statins 🙂
Liver readings were slightly elevated, but they always are and not a cause for concern (GP thinks it may be due to Gilbert's Syndrome, which produces elevated bilirubin numbers, but is essentially benign).
Kidneys fine 🙂
Checked my feet - pulses were 'excellent' 🙂 We discussed the slight numbness I have been feeling in the tips of my big toes, but sensitivity was fine, as was the 'fill' test where they press the toe and see how long it takes for the blood to get back and restore the pink colour (it did it instantly). We concluded that it might actually just be down to my running placing particular stresses on the toes. I think that may be right as I have done about 600 miles over the past year, and maybe I am just more aware of anything affecting my feet since diagnosis and it always happened (running for 34 years! 🙂)
So, a good outcome 🙂 Also, she asked when I wanted the next review and I asked for 6 months (keeps me sensible!) which is what I always used to have until they switched me from clinic to surgery.
Only complaint was the hideous cold I reckon I must have picked up in the waiting room! 😱
