Yes I do

@Alvin Nightingale. Ok, do you also enjoy a glass or two of alcohol in the evenings - or later on? This might increase your waking bgl. I find drinking a tumbler of water fills me up, particularly about 15mins before a meal - and instead of late night snacking. It works for me. If you're eating mostly carbs before bed then that will affect your waking bgl too. (Some of us here have what we call a 'naughty' treat/over the top snack from time to time - after all, we are normal human beings!!!)
Please let us know how you get on. Good luck in your endeavour to lower your bgls, take care

I don't drink at all. How long did it take you to come off metformin.
I do more walking but not regular, I have purchased a bike to see if that helps.

@Alvin Nightingale. Hi. Don't often hear that, good for you.
I was only on metformin for about 9-10wks. Tried 2 different types but it was withdrawn because I had zero tolerance - bad side effects 😱 so I'm plodding along without meds & managing to keep healthy bgls - a bit up & down but between 4.2 and the right side of 7.5ish. Hard work keeping a rein on the carbs.
I presume you mean a bicycle? Yes that will definitely help to lower your bgls. Any exercise is good for you especially walking. (I'm a bit wary about 2 wheels since I fell off mine! :( no confidence or desire to get back on just yet) I think one of the best times to exercise is about 1.30hrs after a meal. Physical activity really helps to control blood glucose.
Tips:
1. Walk to work or to the shops. If you drive to the shops then park as far away from the main entrance as you can so you have to walk further.
2. Take the stairs instead of the lift.
3. Get off the bus one or two bus stops earlier.
4. A stepometer or pedometer is a handy way to measure your activity levels throughout the day - tho i believe there are more up to date products on the market now which can be purchased in sports shops, Pharmacies and mobile App stores.
5. Log your progress by keeping an activity diary.
6. Eat healthily & keep the carbs low.

Good luck, keep the blood circulation moving & take care.

EDITED. You can but ask your GP for a meter kit. Many are not happy or willing to provide them for whatever reason. Also there may not be NHS funding.
