After having crazy Blood sugar readings just read what is in Robitussin, that explains a lot, what are we supposed to take?

Welcome Jokmar! Did you use sugar free Robitussin?

Welcome.
I am presuming that is cough syrup, I never use cough syrup myself. Though I do believe there are sugar free versions of some it is worth asking the Pharmacist. It is also worth noting that throat Lozenges can also have lots of sugar, I buy sugar free ones. Some sugar free products contain sweetener that can have a laxative effect if you go over a certain amount. The ones I use say how many over what time frame do this.

Yes but it contains Sorbitol and Ethanol, it seems to be the only reason for the highs, just had similar experience with Bisoprolol.

Like Grovesy says, sounds like one for a qualified pharmacist. Can't say the stuff affected my levels but can't say it does much good either! 😉

It could be what he is taking it for that is causing the rise. Illness can affect the levels and levels can sometimes rise before you aware of symptoms.

I can understand that but obviously diabetes can exacerbate infection so maybe best to see the doc if he's developing a chest infection. I had severe pneumonia earlier in the year :( hope he feels better soon.

Hi. I have issues with my liver as well as D. My pharmacist recommended a Cocovia (sp? - the one with the bull on the front and advertised by Ainsley Harriot) to me which had no sugar or ethanol and it worked really well

Hi and welcome to the forum. I always ask the pharmacist for sugar free, they usually keep them behind the counter.

Thanks for all the comments, it really does help to know that others have gone through something similar, a better reading last night with no further cough medicine and two normal readings today. If the cough persists I will contact our GP. Thank you all so much. I am a very keen participant now!

Thanks for the welcome, yes I think the pharmacist to be a very useful ally when you cant get to see a Doctor. We try to deal with most problems without help but I feel reassured by all the feedback I have had.

I think you mean Covonia GiGi. I use sugar free Benylin (urrggh!)
