Morning crew.

Anyone know if swine flu is back around much?? Feel proper rotten for at least second day, very sore throat and very high temp, not good at being ill!😡 bs levels are fine though and only had traces of ketones and they gone now. Just read the swine flu leaflet and it said tamiflu is only effective if caught at right time and will only reduce symptons by 1 day!

Also just moved and not registered with local quack yet, also not had seasonal flu jab yet, lined up for 14th of this month.

I'm probably worrying unessecerily (spelling?) and maybe if I can type this I have only got a cold with a temp??

Any comments welcome

Thanks

Rossi

i know of 2 cases at the moment around here in my area , after a spell away with nobody getting it a m8 of mine and another gal got it within 3 days of each other, have you done that online form thing that they got on here thats how my m8 found out she rang them and within 10 mins her GP had phoned her and said yup its swine flu , as you aint got a GP at the moment though that could be tricky

There are loads of viruses doing the rounds, so it could be just normal flu or a cold. A cold sometimes makes you feel proper poorly.

If you want advice there is NHS Direct, or this may be the incentive you need to get registerd with a new docs.

news said the other day that swine flu is up by 50%.

Thanks for your messages,

Wifey has bought a digital thermometer we'll see what the reading is tonight!

:(

I had to get the didigital thermometer in our house too, but it is the fellers that use it...

Sounds yuck! Get well soon 🙂

Hope you feel better soon. Maybe it's swine flu, maybe it's just normal flu/cold whatever it's not nice feeling rotton. Keep taking paracetamol is you've got a temperature and keep to your normal sick day rules.

Well if it was swine flu it was the shortest dose ever only actually 2 days of feeling really rubbish, unless it comes back tomorrow.

Am I right in thinking that now I'm diabetic I could be hit harder than previously with flus/colds/temperautres etc? (don't get them very often thats all)

Thanks for all you comments.

PS been creating my diabotic this morning so as soon as I can get a picture up and think of an apt name I'll be posting it up!!

Rossi, the main problem is when we get an infection it can make your levels very unpredictable - most people go high, but some also drop low. Ask your DSN about 'Sick Day Rules' so you are prepared next time. I don't think there's any greater likelihood of getting colds etc. but we are at risk of things like ketones and DKA if we don't keep things under control. Good to hear it wasn't swine flu!🙂

dunno if on topic but has anyone else had letter in post fronthere surgery asking them to book up for flu jab

got mine yesterday and im booked in for 28th

Not yet. I did ask the other day and they said they are just booking in over 65s at the moment. Last year I had mine around the 20th October.

I said to the dopey lass look im in seeing DSN on the 26th can i merge the 2 together and kill 2 birds with 1 stone so to speak she said ohh we aint got it booked that far ahead so cant do it , she goes to look for appointments and comes back with is the 28th ok stephanie :confused:

my current gp started doing seasonal on 21st sept, I'm booked in for 14th oct, after which I will register with new gp nearby, well the nearest one in a nearby village (how weird does that sound!)

That's something I need to discuss with the DSN on the 26th. I have a slight problem with most vaccines in that they are purified using albumen (egg white) and I'm allergic to eggs. In the case of the flu vaccines, they're actually produced using eggs as well. Double jeopardy!

oooooh same day i see DSN alison im hoping it has been a yes to byetta .good luck to you for then

I had mine on 25th Sept.

Me: "Oh, and can I have a flu jab?"
GP: "Hang on, they're in the fridge."

I love my GP.
