Coming up to tea time (17.00) BS at 6.7 and I'm just not hungry. Toying with the idea with stuffing a load of random vegetables in the nutribullet with a couple of grapes. Good idea or not? Can you eat too many vegetables or in this case drink?

Hmmmm, avoid the grapes as they are sugar bombs.......

Personally, if I'm not hungry I just don't eat...... I let my body dictate when & what I eat..........

Thanks Martin, someone told me that the grapes would help with the 'bitteness' of the veggies. Apart from the grapes what do you think about my 'smoothie'?.

I'd leave out the grapes, if you have carrot in there, that will sweeten the mix. Sounds lovely BTW... Not! I'd zap it in the microwave and call it soup. 🙂 But each to his own eh no?

I thought as Nutribullet liquised every think that you lose out on fibre, and also it increases the release of the sugars.

I think once you have tasted it you will be able to decide whether it was a good idea or not lol. I do not think two grapes would make much difference, especially if the vegetables are low carb ones. If you are using higher carb vegetables they should be sweet enough without the grapes. Personally I never juice (liquidise) any vegetable as it increases the sugar value of the whole thing.

I'm not big on smoothies...... I prefer to eat my food so I'm of little help with recommendations in that area:(

You're right it does sound horrible but my idea was to get them inside me without having to eat them, regardless.

ROFL. Not into greenery then?

Can't stand the stuff.
I love it myself. At this time of year, I seem to live on soup, it's fast easy and I make my own so I know what's in it. It's a good way of 'hiding' veg as well.

Now that's an idea.
It's easy, all you need is:

1/2 litre stock
1/2 kilo assorted veg
and 250/500 gms your choice of meat/fish/poultry
herbs/spices/S&P to taste

Chop the meat, if any, into chunks and brown it in a little oil (if it's not left overs that is), put the stock in a pan and bring to the boil then throw everything in and cook at a simmer till the veggies are soft. Liquidise the results and serve you'll never know there's veg in there. It's enough for two and freezes well. I use whatever leftovers are handy, it saves waste.

That sounds yummy. Do you liquidise the meat/fish/poultry?
Yes, once the soup is cooked, I liquidise the lot. You could always fish it out first if you can be bothered to.

Thank you so much Alison. I will give it a try tomorrow. I've looked up the best vegetables to use for diabetics and can't wait. I might even try it in the slow cooker at some stage. Thanks again.

I use my slow cooker all the time @Martin W. It's my favourite kitchen gadget, great for making soups, stews and casseroles. I like it cos it has a timer, so if I go away and forget about it, it will switch itself off, and I can set it so I have a hot meal waiting when I get home from 'out there'.

It's my favourite too. On someone's recommendation I did a baked potato in mine the other day. Just screw up some tin foil into large balls to support the potato out of the water and away you go.

My latest favorite kitchen gadget is an Air Fryer....... No more oil splatters over the stove
