From what I know, diet drinks are no different to the non diet, other than the sugar.
So, for those of use who recognise cola for the dreadful stuff it is, diet cola is a no go.
I drink diet drinks my fav ATM is Lilt zero I also drink lots of water and some coffee, not all at the same time though you could also try some diet squash.
I don't like the after taste from diet drinks, I also find them far too sweet compared to the full fat ones. I will have a 'zero' or a 'max' sometimes, they're not as cloying and I don't have BG issues with them. I mostly stick to no sugar added squash or tea though.
Whilst your BG is so high Caron - the idea is to help your body wash out the excess glucose - so plain water does a better job of this as there's nothing else for your body to have to process.
However - no harm in having a drink of something sugar free, or tea in between drinks of water - as a rest from it!
