Just recently been diagnosed with Type 2 and think l cried more over this news than l did breast cancer. Kind of went off the rails a bit at first - tumbling down but know that I have to change. I have had so much surgery over the past year and now been diagnosed with Tupe 2. Happy to chat with anyone. Thank you for reading.

Welcome Wendy, You have found a great supportive group for all things, not Just D.

As Owen says, D is controllable, just don't let it control you.

Hi Wendy, I have just been disgnosed with T1 and on insulin twice a day. All too much to take in. I feel like i an panicking at the slightest thing. One day at a time is a good way to start i think. Donna

Small steps, don't ever feel alone. Ask anything and everything. Don't forget DUK Helpline is a great resource as well

Hi Wendy...another type 2 here...diagnosed about 7 weeks ago...it was a shock...stunned me at first...however there has been a positive side to my diagnosis...taking care of myself so much more than I ever have before...eating better...getting lots of positive advice...more active...weight coming off...give yourself some time...understand you must be in shock...you've had a lot to deal with...as if breast cancer and the surgery wasn't enough to deal with...you'll get lots of good advice and support here...I have...I tried to rush things...but as Donna says 'one day at a time 'is the way to go...please keep posting...would be good to hear your progress...

Welcome Wendy. You have come to the right place to find friendly and helpful people and to benefit from their experience with D. I am now on my second run of Cancer and agree that finding out I have D was almost worse. At least with the C I know that treatment should help, but it is not the same with D. It takes a while to come to terms with "This is it" for life now and making adjustments. One day at a time is the best we can do. There will be plenty of bad days but as long as there are more good days you will be on the right track to help yourself. Ask questions and learn as much as you can about your own body and it's reactions to foods and drugs and you will do ok. Keep in touch

Hi Wendy, DON'T PANIC.
Diabetes is a manageable condition. It takes time to take in all the information.
Just keep asking on here for help as there is a wealth of experience available.

Hi Wendy & welcome to the forum. We are a lovely helpful bunch here (well, most of us, anyway😉). Ask any questions, nothing's too silly.🙂

PS: I was joking, we are all helpful....Sort of.:D
