The joys of testing your blood glucose levels!!!
Pricked finger in the usual manner and waited a couple of seconds then gentley squeezed my finger to extract a small drop only for a nice fountain of blood to spurt out the end of my finger up onto my forehead and glasses, I gave it another small squeeze for the same thing to happen.
Laughs and giggles all round in the office.
I did manage to get a small drop onto the test strip in the end!

Good grief...where did that come from? It's just as well you don't work with someone who faints at the sight of blood. 🙂

That brought back memories.

Stopped bleeding. Im blaming the fact my hands were warm!!! One of the other girls sitting near me thought it was quite amusing as im sitting there with blood on my forehead! Not had one that bad before.

Could be, I often have a problem if I test on getting back from a run on a hot day - the blood is pumping hard and all the capillaries are open, blood goes all over finger instead of forming a nice little blob! 😱 🙂

I get the occasional gusher (especially when pricking my little fingers), but never a squirter. 🙂

I have before now had blood hit my car roof when I have been sat in the seat 😱 It can sometimes get incredibly messy. I once had this happen as I was on my way out on a night out and my nice crisp white shirt looked like I had been shot with an 8 bore duck gun. It might be worth having your blood pressure checked just to be on the safe side. Opinions vary as to whether higher blood pressure makes you bleed more readily or puts blood coming from an open wound more pressurised and hence squirt all over the place. There are suggestions that clotting agents prevent this from occurring. I did however once mention it to my doctor in passing and she immediately checked my blood pressure before announcing that it was normal at that time.

I've noticed that my finger pricks bleed more when my BG is high, and less when it's low. Anybody else notice that or am I a freak?

Had my bp checked Monday and it was fine.

Other way round for me, if I'm low I bleed more easily, if high it's like getting blood from a stone. Don't need a meter can tell by the way I bleed 🙄

Stitch I had a squirter once and of course I was wearing a white top. I was told it's because I have excellent circulation and I like that explanation so I'm sticking with it :D

Yup, definitely a freak... Unless I am that is. Mine is 'stickier' when I'm high and thinner when low. Mind you wiv the anaemia it's easier getting blood out if a rock than me, I've never had a gusher or a squirter once in umpty 8 years. According to the doctor, my veins are shy... Eh? That'll be the only bit if me that is then.

Last time that happened to me I then found out that the needle had moved itself from 1.5 to 4 - Ouch!
