hi my name is Issi and just been digjosed with diabetes type 2 any have any advice at all

Thank you

Welcome Issi, sorry to hear about the diagnosis....

My advice is to cut the carbs, they are not your friend!!!
Generally breads, pasta, rice & starchy vegetables will affect your BG, reducing them (or cutting them) will have a positive affect on your Blood Glucose levels

More advice is to get a Blood Glucose monitor; by testing your BG you will be able to determine what foods cause spikes in your BG levels & adjust your diet appropriately.

Hi Issi, welcome to the forum 🙂 I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis - how did it come about? Have you been given any medication for your diabetes? I would suggest having a read of Jennifer's Advice and Maggie Davey's letter for starters, as they should help to put you in the picture. Also, many of our members have found the book Type 2 Diabetes: The First Year by Gretchen Becker really helpful, so worth investing in 🙂

There is a lot to learn, but take your time to absorb the information, and do please ask any questions you may have - there are lots of friendly, knowledgeable people here who will be very happy to help 🙂 It's a serious condition, but it can be managed well and doesn't have to stop you doing the things you want to do. Many people find that the changes they make to bring their levels under control actually result in them feeling much happier and healthier, with a new lease on life, so I hope the same happens for you! 🙂

Let us know if you have any concerns 🙂

Hi Issi - Martin's been advising me on the LC/HF (low carb/High fat/no sugar 'way of life'; his advice to get a blood glucose meter has been really useful for me I must say. There's loads of books on advice and recipes on the web (Amazon etc too). It is difficult to get one's head round past the last 40 years' medical advice to eat low fat (often therefore with added sugar for flavour), high carb with every meal, etc. Completely changing one's way of thinking and looking at a new way of life re food is difficult - could be easier just to go on Metaformin etc., but I am trying this LC/HF life for the initial 10 weeks to see if I can avoid it first. Lots of things have hidden sugars, but I have cut my beloved bread down and few potatoes/rice/pasta etc with meals - in favour of green vegs with full fat sauces - with meat or oily fish of choice. When one eats more fat one does not get hungry; the body takes longer to metabolise and burn the fat as feul - rather than instant sugary drinks and all the carbohydrates which quickly run out and cause one to be hungry again!!! The people on the forum are great at helping one keep motivated, and answer all the questions one thinks up. Keep going. Rgds Alison
