Morning all. Could anyone tell me if the GL Diet for dummies is worth reading and using. Thanks in advance.

I haven't looked at it myself but many on here recommend it.

Yes, I'd certainly recommend it - it's a good introduction to the 'Glycaemic Load' approach to selecting and combining foods so that they have a slow, steady impact on blood glucose levels, which is exactly what you are looking for when you have diabetes! 🙂 You can usually pick up second hand copies very cheaply on amazon or Abebooks 🙂 GL is a refinement of GI (Glycaemic Index) and takes portion size into account. With GI, the number is based on a fixed portion e.g. 500g of carrots, melon, peas etc. whereas GL is based on how much you might actually eat with your meal. All becomes clear in the book! 🙂

I've just bought a copy. Its great because you can read the chapters which interest you as stand alone chapters. You don't have to read it from the beginning to the end (though I'm sure I will read it all eventually).
