Woo hoo, Sanofi have sent me a half unit pen for my Lantus.

I am very grateful to them, but I was just a little bit bemused when the postie rang the doorbell and handed me a huge box.....

I know that they use standard size boxes, all these companies - and quite probably get better prices from their couriers by having thousands of standard sized boxes than some of this that and the other.

Possibly a small but mega heavy item would have to be packed in a similarly even huger box because there's quite probably a weight limit on all the sizes too!

It also makes it easier for the actual despatchers since it removes any element of personal judgement LOL so maybe one can employ persons of low intellect - or for whom English is not their main language LOL - and they don't require much training etc ........

I got one of those too! I thought it was the birthday present I was expecting at the time - very disappointing, but I had to laugh :D

Looks as good as amazon's packaging.

Excellent, you tracked down the elusive half unit Lantus pen! I do wonder sometimes at the amount of packaging for things!

It was surprisingly easy in the end. Having filled in their online contact form twice, and been ignored, I picked up the phone, explained that I wanted one, and the lady said, OK, which colour and what's your address? Three days later it arrived. Simples!

I love how ridiculous packaging is sometimes!

That looks great. I've got a half unit pen for my novorapid but am still getting the disposable lantus solostar pens on prescription, think I would like to change that to a refillable one. Did you have to pay for it?

If I need a new pen I just ask my GP to prescribe one - you'd have to ask them to change the lantus prescription to cartridges anyway 🙂

No, they sent it me free of charge. The reason I didn't go down the prescription route, was that when I wanted a new NovoPen, the surgery made such a Horlicks of it that I ended up doing two trips to the surgery and three to the pharmacy, (the pharmacist even tried ringing the surgery in the end, and he eventually overruled what the surgery kept trying to prescribe, which wasn't a half unit one, rang Nordisk, and got me a NovoPen echo instead, which I was very happy about.). So I just thought it would be easier to cut out the middleman.

Just a little follow up to the saga of obtaining my half unit pen. Having emailed them at the beginning of May, and had no response, I phoned them instead, and have been happily using my new pen for the last six weeks.
At the end of last week, I had an email from Sanofi saying, sorry your email got lost due to technical problems, and yes, we'll send you a pen, let us know what colour! So I don't know how my original email has been floating round in their system since early May and has only just surfaced, that's modern technology for you!
