I say attempt, as half way through making it I realised I didn't have enough ingredients.😳 Only had 2oz of almond flour, so added 4oz coconut flour & 2oz rye flour. Didn't have enough sweetener either, so added a tsp of honey. Used raw cocoa powder. Now in oven to see what happens.:D

I look forward to hearing what it turns out like

(sounds a bit on the dry side to me .......) :( 😉

Forgot to mention i did add eggs & butter, but mixture was a bit stiff, so you may be right after all.

Well, here it is.🙂 Looks very dark but it is very chocolatey. I will try it when it's cooled down a bit.

This sounds like my Mother's cooking. 'Oh, the recipe says...but I havent got that so I'll use...and I havent got ...but ...might work...'
Her classic was a recipe (a dessert for me) that she managed to not put in any of the ingredients that the recipe said. Every single thing was a replacement. Was very nice none the less, but trades desciptions act might well have applied...

Sadly, that bottle is empty.:( Tried the cake & it's not bad. A bit crumbly but very tasty. Now need to test it's impact on my BS. Results in 2 hrs time.🙂

Results are in. 5.1 before & 5.2 two hrs after.🙂 I'll add the recipe to the recipe section when I've refined it.

My first attempt at such a cake resulted in a chocolate flavoured paving slab. :(😱🙄 I got better at it. 🙂

Poor camel!

Might have to try this one.

Don't knock camel poo!

A story from a great uncle who served in North Africa during WW2:

My great uncle's platoon had a very simple rule about food when out in the field - if you complained about a meal, you'd have to cook the next meal, and you'd be stuck as the cook until the next person complained.

One poor bloke had been stuck on chef duties for days as the rest of the group refused to complain, not wanting to end up having to do the job. Eventually, he hatched a master plan. He gathered up some camel poo, duly cooked it, and presented it to everyone.

Of course, one of the guys instantly looked at it, sniffed it and said "Urgh! This is camel poo!"

Then, realising what this might mean for his duties for the next few weeks, he took a bite and remarked "It's very well cooked though!"

Mark, if it's any consolation, my other half once tried to grill a cake.

Apart from the fact that I overbaked it, my camel poo tastes ok.🙂

I think your recipe should be titled, "Camel Pooh Cake". 🙂

I should think in Mark's house, it most likely will, from now on for ever more!

Our work canteen used to bake individual pies and of course as they turned one out it would be upside down and some wit commented that it looked like a tortoise. So after that when ordering one's tortoise for lunch, the only additional thing to specify was either Snake & Pygmy or Fowl & Fungus.

I love the way these threads go off in unexpected directions.
