So I'm late home from work today and dinner is taking ages to cook. Hungry, but not starving. It's 8pm and I last ate about 12.30 (chicken and salad and a Lidl High Protein bread roll). Just tested BG levels at 4.5. This is the lowest level I've ever recorded, and I'm now worried it's too low!

I feel fine - not shaky or fuzzy headed. Should I worry or be pleased?

(Type 2, no medication by the way)

Don't worry, 4.5 is within normal range. 4.0 is usually given as lowest you should be, but non diabetics can go down to 3.5 with no ill effects. It's unlikely you would go dangerously low if not on medication, but it may be a lower figure than you're used to. Well done, by the way.

I thought I better make sure so I had a biscuit 🙂

Excellent number that, congratulations. I wouldn't normally treat a hypo over 3.5 and then I have a sliding scale of treatments depending on how much below 3.5 I am.

I love digestive biscuits, yum. Well done on the great number, as mentioned, 4.5 is just fine and dandy. It would be great if your body and you get used to this sort of number, next time maybe try eating some protein, like a bit of cheese.

Being busy at work & eating healthy is the way. Well done. 😎
