Hi everyone .I am very overweight for the last few weeks I have been very tired and dizzy .Then a rash came out all over .I visited my gp on mon where she said it was a fungal infection .She took blood tests .Then yesterday she said I have type 2 diabetes .I have been given Metformin ,but are so unsure what to eat .I am hungry but not sure what I can eat .

Sorry to hear this Suze :( The good news is that, now you have been diagnosed, you should start to feel much better. What you need to be careful of is carbohydrates - bread, pasta, rice, potatoes and anything sugary or flour-based, like pastries. These are what will have the greatest impact on your blood sugar levels, so by reducing the amount in your diet you will hopefully improve your blood sugar control. Substitute things like potatoes with other veg, You might find it helpful to read up on the GL Diet, which is a way of selecting food that will have a slow and steady impact on your blood sugar levels, and therefore a good way of eating when you have diabetes.
The GL Diet for Dummies is a good introduction 🙂
