Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi my name is Dave I'm retired and new to the forum, I've been type 2 for about 2 years now and have been stable until i got a chest infection a few months ago where my glucose levels went haywire and I have never been able to stabilize them since so was wondering if anyone else has suffered this.??

Hi Dave, welcome to the forum 🙂 Infections can seriously mess with your blood sugar levels, but usually things settle down again after you have fully recovered, so I'm sorry to hear you are still having problems. What does your GP say? There's a possibility that, if the infection was bad, it may be taking your pancreas longer to recover. Are you on any medication for your diabetes? Have you changed anything in your routine or eating habits since you recovered?

Hello well its been a few months since the infection and it did stabilize for a week or so but glucose levels went back up and has now settled at around 12 now. I have just done the ex-pert coarse and today started to do a weekly injection of Trulicity so hopefully that is going to do the trick alongside my Metformin.

Ah, hopefully that will help then. We have had quite a few members here who have achieved good results with similar medications (it's a bit like Bydureon, a weekly version of Byetta or Victoza). Great to hear you have done the XPert course also - what did you think of it?
