Hey, I can't really offer any useful advice, as it have only been re-classified as Type 1 for 2 weeks now, and on insulin for 4. I can say I find it frustrating when I do the same sort of things. Eat exactly the same at the same time and yet get totally different BS results. I am so far trying to 'enjoy' the challenge of getting numbers in range, however I am sure this will wear off very quickly! I haven't yet had a day with all numbers in target.

This week, 42% of my blood readings have been between 5 and 7. I don't know if that's good or bad. I've been testing 8-10 times a day.

(I use an app called diabetik, and it gives all kinds of cool maths graphs).

Myself I would be very happy if 42% of my reading were between 5 and 7, don't think I could scrap 10 % of my readings with in those levels.

I think that's great, so you know you and your body are agreeing nearly half the time. I found taking one mystery at a time helps a lot and stops it becoming overwhelming. For example I had high fasting levels but then would usually be hypo at about 11, logically I thought I was having too much rapid at breakfast, so I reduced my ratio, then had high post brekkie but still hypo at 11, it took a while but with basal testing I worked out it was Lantus, namely too much so I was getting hypos in the night leading to high morning readings. The graphs will be really useful I use them too, just remember there's also what I like to call random body rebellion where it's just high or just low because it is, no pattern it's just having a paddy 🙂. Keep at it you'll get there and if you can't make MDI work you'll have lots of evidence to try for that pump. I don't think success is about the numbers I think it's about the effort, and you're giving it your all 🙂

Hope it improves for you Pav, maybe insulin would help or increased oral medication? My Friend with type 2 uses a low dose of insulin which has really helped him with control, but of course it's all very personal isn't it.

To be fair, I think a few months ago I would have said the same thing. I didn't have good control at all. I know type one and type two are different types, but it does sound like we've got similar problems. Hope yours gets sorted too.

And I just realised that the app says healthy range between 5 and 7.5, because morning readings were 7.1 and it gave it a green.

It's always a 'work in progress' isn't it.

Some weeks it's about trying to move that 42% towards 50%... or 60%... or...

Other weeks, where you've a family birthday and a wedding and you are ill and you are running a marathon (or for no apparent reason whatsoever) it's about trying to bet *back* to somewhere near 40% from 10% 🙄

We can't change what we did yesterday, but we can try to manage all of todays variables as best we can 🙂

Hope I get it sorted soon, next appointment is next week with the DN. The control is sort of in place as I tend to eat the same foods most dsys in the attempt to keep the numbers in range. But I am awkward and can swing wildly. I can go from highs of 11 + to hypo in around 1 1/2 hours. Another day with the same food will stay high or levels will behave and be in a decent normal range.

Just hope the DN sees it the same as me, that gliclazide is the wrong medicine for me. Got no chance of being stable with it, as its to unpredictable in what its doing to me. One day it kicks the pancreas to hard and the next not enough.
