Cold, so cold!

I'm having a hypo, not a serious one, it's a mere 3.1 at the moment, but I just can't get warm. I have the duvet tucked round me and the heating on full blast and my hands are like blocks of ice, so are my feet, even with a hot water bottle under them. I can't stop shivering. This is misery.

Oh dear Alison, is this a typical hypo symptom for you or do you think you might have a temperature? Fevers always make you shivery....

Shivering takes energy, so I know I sometimes have to eat more to prevent me going hypo - having no heating at home for most of November was a challenge for me. I found that hot drinks and food were vital. A warm & cuddly cat also helped 🙂

Ally are you sure your hypo isn't lack of steroid induced? I ask because I remember you saying you came off of the steroids.

When my blood sugar is low due to a lack of steroid I shiver so badly it's unbelievable and the cold is hideous. ((((((((((hugs))))))))

I'm feeling better now, still chilly, but not frozen. Yes, it's a regular hypo thing with me, although I sometimes get all hot and bothered instead. I've liberated a supply of Options Belgian along with a banana toastie which should help. BGs up to 3.9 now.

I hadn't thought of it, but I don't think it's that Sue, I've been off the things for some time now. I do wonder if my red cell count is down too though. I'll call the surgery to get a test done and I may need to go back on the iron tonic.

So sorry you have felt so poorly today Ally, hope you improve tonight and your dr can help tommorow. Enjoy your options and my mouth is watering at the thought of a banana toastie, I have not had a banana for 4 years as I am not allowed them because of kidneys. I forgot to say, I had my RBC done at the surgery this morning and it's down. Not drastically, but enough that I'm back on the iron pills for a while.

Hi Alison how are you feeling today ?, any warmer ? It has been another horrible day weather wise hasnt it ? It has never stopped raining and is so cold. I am a bit tired after last night , it wasnt just the hypo's my gastroperesis causes major problems a couple of nights a week, so no sleep those nights. I had a lovely lunch today in North Queensferry. 🙂
