Had a call from the surgery today

They'd had to do the last lot of blood tests twice because one of the results was a bit odd. Dr called today to tell me my Adrenal Glands seem to be working again (to a degree) and he wants me to stop the Addison's meds while we monitor what's happening. This means blood tests every month for a while, just in case it's a fluke.

He told me they thought at first that the samples must have got mixed up, which is why they did it twice. I've been off the steroids (with the exception of an occasional cortisone injection) for about two years now. I know its possible for them to recover, but hadn't expected it for me because it's been so long.

How odd. I know I should be doing a jig, but I'm too confused.

How much steroid do you take Alison? I hope he hasn't told you just to stop the steroids. If so don't do it as it could kill you by inducing an addison's crisses.
Is your addison's autoimmune or is it secondary from steroid use?

Secondary. From steroid use, first for the Eczema and later the Rheumatoid Arthritis. When I had the Eczema, the only treatment that seemed to work was Cortisone, creams and pills in pretty large does at times and the RA has been treated with injections. I was always borderline as far as the Addison's goes (Aldosterone levels were acceptable, Cortisol was greatly reduced) and had one 'relatively minor' crisis when I was pregnant. That was the first clue I had the condition, my BP dropped like a stone. I was already in hospital due to complications with the pregnancy that I won't go into here.
