I'm not sure actually. I haven't taken metformin, but in the past when I have had fasting blood tests I haven't been told to stop medication, except obviously no insulin for breakfast as I wouldn't be eating. I imagine if you were on gliclazide or something else that might cause a hypo you wouldn't take it if not eating, but I wouldn't have thought metformin would fall into that category. Are you on any other medication?

yes im on ramapril blood pressure tablets as well, im going to ring the doctors and double check to be sure:confused:

Fingers crossed for you buddy x....p.s that's me with fingers crossed not a kiss lol!!! 😉

I think the fasting bit may be to do with cholesterol testing. I usually have black coffee before I go, and take a banana to scoff as soon as the needle comes out. Good luck!

I've always been told to take my metformin on a fasting test. Good luck with yours!

I've got mine in February to look forward to. Although I always find it a pain as the earliest I can get a test is 9:30am and I usually start at 7:30am!

Thanks to you all, I just had my bloods done but apparently they wanted a urine sample as well which I didn't know about to have to drop one in on the way home.

Got my full diabetes review on the 12th November.
