I managed to get out for a night with friends and towards the end of the night my foot was painful to put any weight on. :(

When I got home there was a burst golf ball size blister on the ball of my foot. :( temporarily treated it with savolon all that was left in the house.

It was still tender this morning and ended up down the medical drop in centre. Got seen by a doc who passed me on to a nurse to dress it.

The nurse has tried to re-attach (skin graft) the blistered skin back on using stero strips, to give the foot some protection and better chance of healing. 🙂

The strange thing is I don't know why I ended up with such a big blister, I was wearing the same shoes and socks that I have been wearing for months.

Now have to face my own docs again next week.

Ouch PAV-..................the same socks for months?

I hope that it heals quickly

Frequently washed. :D :D :D

Ouch!! You have my sympathies. I always get blisters when I wear shoes so spend the spring/summer months in sandals and wear them till it gets too cold for sandals. I am trying to shop again for shoes and know I'll get blisters 😱

I find buying shoes a real trial, they always "rub" somewhere and cause blisters. I live in sandals and then transfer to boots, the only time I wear shoes is to funerals lol. Pav it's weird that it was your normal shoes though. Maybe you just got extra hot or something. I hope it heals very quickly.

Old Army trick...wear two pairs of socks and you will never get a blister. Bit tough if you is a girl in high heels though!

Just a thought about why you got a blister wearing your usual shoes... do you check them for bits of grit every time you put them on (like my podiatrist recommends)?

I don't normally check for bits of grit, but will be doing so from now on, just been back for a dressing change and got to go back at the end of the week for another dressing and check up. Now back to wearing my steel toe capped shoes, which heavy, well worn in / out but very comfortable.

The nurse asked about my sugar levels and when I said they swing from 2.6 to 16, she said that's far to big a swing and to high. Now why can't the doctors see that the swing is to big.

She asked when my HbA1c, foot check was due and added extra tests into the blood test form.

Now having

HbA1c
HB full blood count

Urea & Electrolytes
LFT
Ferritin assay
Fasting Lipids
TFTs (diagnostic), TSH
Thyroid Function.

Its still tender, not much sign of healing at the moment, find out at the end of the week if any better.

Need to try out the new bike as well, and need to put some weight on the foot to do it.

Are we talking push bike or motorbike Alan?

Old Army trick for BIG blisters and you havnt much time before you have to go of shooting things.
Get a bowl of Hottish water and disolve about half a cup of table salt into it. Place foot into water and twiddle your toes and relax a bit. When water goes cold towel foot dry (dont forget the towel before you start). Works every time. You can be put on a charge for blistered feet as you is supposed to look after them. Best of luck.

Good motors the Suzuki's, old age crisis in my case.
