Completely forgot to pick my prescription up today so sent Dp to the chemist when he came home from work to pick it up. I said to him make sure my levemir is in there because I have completely ran out and haven't any for tonight. He came back , where is the levemir and the test stirps and most of the other things. He quickly went back but it was closed so now I have no levemir at all. I have 40 units . Damn , I have never ran out before.

So what do I do, shall I just check through the night and use novorapid .

Sorry to hear this Daisy :( Do you have a copy of your prescription you could take to a 24 hour pharmacy or hospital, or do you know any other levemir users where you live? Or ring the out of hours doctor for advice.

If it was me I would probably use the novorapid and test through the night. How much levemir do you normally inject?

I normally take 40 units at night . Hospital is 40 minutes away and can't go because my austitic child refuses to leave the house at the moment. I don't know any other levemir users. I guess I will keep checking through out the night and hope for the best.

Oh nooooo!

You could cover the 'gap' with NR in a similar way to people on a pump I suppose... though it will mean a pretty disturbed night :(

I wonder if 2-hourly or 4-hourly doses might do the trick? Novo lasts about 4 hours for most people, and quite a bit of its action seems to be in the first 3 hours for me.

I guess you'd take your usual 24 hour Lev dose and divide it into units-per-hour, then work out a NR dose based on how far apart you are expecting the doses to be.

I sort of did the same thing when I started the pump. Worked out how much basal (Lantus) I was having per hour and popped in a mini-injection every 2 hours until I was hooked up.

How much Levemir do you usually take in total (both doses) during the day?

Sorry, I misread about the 40 units. I hope that things go OK for you. I would ask your GP if you can have another prescription for levemir so that you are less likely to run out - worth having also in case you discover a problem with the box you are on. Doesn't help you now though, I know! Take care.

I take 40 at nighht and 20 in the day. I don't sleep well anyway, things are bad with autism and school refusal etc so I am up most of the night. I don't know what a good night sleep is :(. Thanks for your help.

Well I awoke to the best blood sugars I have had in a long while. Have got my levemir now.

Well, there you go! Hehe! I wouldn't recommend doing it on a regular basis though! 😱 Did you have to correct through the night at all? Glad to hear there was a good outcome andyou now have your levemir 🙂

I set an alarm for 3.00am , did a test it was 16.3 so I put four units of rapid in and went back to sleep. I always have a problem with DP so knew I wouldn't go low. Shall not be doing it again in a hurry though .

Pleased it turned out ok for you ! Love the name. Dukes of Hazard 😎
