Hi Everyone,

I am going today for a hearing test as my hearing seems to have got worse does anybody know if this is a sympton related to Diabetes ? should I mention I am diabetic whe I have the test

I don't think hearing loss is related to diabetes as lots of non diabetics have hearing loss. There are some reasons like over exposure to loud noise for too long (factory workers, rock stars and rock fans for example), illness and age. They ask you all kinds of health questions any way so it is worth telling them about the diabetes.

I hope all goes well withthe test and you can get some help

Hi Royston, sorry to hear this. Yes, do tell them you have diabetes as it can be related to diabetes (although not commonly known).

I hope that the test goes well and yu are able to find a solution, let s know how things go 🙂

Ooh how interesting. I didn't know that it can be related. I have needed hearing aids for about 12 years now and they said it probably started in childhood. I was diagnosed aged 11 and had very badly controlled levels for many years. Although I also think that it's part of our family tendancy to develop hearing problems on my mums side of the family - it's practically the hearing aid club!
