Relationship to Diabetes
I joined this forum when my husband was diagnosed as Type 2 Diabetic a couple of years ago. We both knew little or nothing about the disease, how it affects day to day living etc.
This site has given me an insight as to how it affects all your lives and so I can understand my husband better.
My husband won't come here himself, he won't say why; just; 'oh you do it'. I think it has more to do with the fact that he wants to distance himself from being Diabetic and wants me to 'do my bit' like sharing the work load in the garden. He hates me telling anyone. He doesn't realy accept that it is life changing but now he is a bit more aware.

I'd just like to thank you Northerner for the site and all the hard work .
I can't imagine the ammount of work that goes into running it, answering every question and comment and posting all the 'In the News' items, Off the subject and even having time to post jokes and quizes.

Superman!!
Thanks

Thank you cakemaker, it is a pleasure 🙂 Your comments are very much appreciated 🙂

I second that. Diabetes would be a very lonely place without this forum and especially Northerner 🙂

agreed - not sure HOW you do it but you do a fantastic job !!! 🙂

and who said men couldnt multi - task ?!? 😉😉

I'll answer that in a few minutes when I have finished drinking this cup of tea. If I answer now, it'll go cold.

I understand what Northerner does and I applaud him.

I agree, my diabetes is only under control as a direct result of this site. Its help me to understand why and how things affect it and as a direct result my HBA1C has come down from 10+ to 6. knowing other people get things wrong helps to know your not alone. I had joined a couple of sites before this, and i found no help or support with every one "super dibetics" that never get anything wrong
So i am extreamly greatfull to Northerner for this site. SO THANKS FROM ME ASWELL:D

I reckon there's no such thing as a diabetic that gets everything right... but on this site we can be honest about our SNAFUs and learn from each other. :D

Alan, I hope you're basking in all this glory - it's certainly well deserved. 🙂

Northener is wonderful:D

Thanks everyone for your kind words. You all have helped me enormously as well! 🙂

When I was diagnosed in September last year I got little information and felt shocked, scared, so alone and very ignorant. The doctor impressed on me that this was a progressive disease and that it was downhill all the way now. Northerner saved me from my despair, always encouraging and ready to answer all my questions he is an absolute hero to whom I will always be grateful. Thank you Alan 🙂

A big thank you Northerner for all of your help. I don't know where we would all be without your continued help. THANKS.

I'd just like to put my two penny worth in.. Northerner has helped me too, this message board has encouraged me when things are bad. So, thanks northerner... And several others too 🙂

Great thread.

I add my thanks too and just so grateful I found this forum as otherwise I would be very confused.

Same from me!

The most essential website on the web for us D's and Northerner is a hero!

Thanks again everyone 🙂 It's why I enjoy being here so much, I love to see how people can change and become more confident and better-informed about their diabetes, and cut through all the misinformation that is out there 🙂 Also, it is particularly nice to see those who were confused and scared to begin with, now helping others from their knowledge and experience 🙂
