Evening all

Well I feel slightly better about the diabetes as had been previously mentioned that I may have been having a burn out.

But on the positive side, I raised ?61 diabetes week & ?890 for my diabetes walk (I did 10k in 2 hours in the boiling heat)

Am also post op from carpal tunnel surgery & my bloods are very good

And I've been on DAFNE so roll on pump day

I need some advice, i have high blood pressure (due to family history & work) & take losartan 50mg but as its still a bit high, I've been given amlodipine 5mg.

I'm really unsure about taking it due to the side affects & wondered if anyone had experience of it?

Glad to read you are feeling better 🙂 and well done on your fundraising.

Unfortunately I know nothing about the high bp meds.

Hi Laura, glad to have you back. Sorry about the BP. I can only have ACE-inhibitors myself (lisinopril), so can't comment on the drugs but I hope someone will be along soon with an answer.

Hi leelee.

I was on ace but was taken off them (was on ramaprill) just the extra pill has a lot of scary side affects so unsure of starting on them.

Hope your grandson is doing well

Think about it logically: side-effects don't affect 100% of patients, so you may not get them. If you do, you can then make an informed choice about stopping. Long term high blood pressure is really bad, so what have you got to lose by trying?

Lucas is 7 weeks old, has outgrown his 0-3 month clothes, and is milking my daughter dry!

No advice from me either, just good to see you posting again!

I suffer with low blood pressure, makes me dizzy if I get up too quickly, when having blood pressure taken, the nurses are always soooo pleased!

Very true, think ill wait til my hand is healed & I come off the pain killers before taking them.
Awww bless him, his mum's milk must be good stuff!

Thanks Casper.

Think you'd be my gp's dream!

Hi Laura, welcome back - good to hear you sounding so positive 🙂. Well done on the fundraising too!

Sorry I can't help re the meds though.

Only going on my own experience I am on ramipril and amlodipine for my blood pressure and never had any side effects from them, but every one is different to how well they tolerate meds.

Without the meds my pressure was around the 150's / 130's, now its a more normal of around 124 / 90.

Thank you pav, I'm due to stop the codeine today so will give the new pills a try this coming week.

My last one was 160 but can't remember the bottom number.
The docs want me about 150ish
But the numbers you gave look good given the meds

Good to see you back here Laura. Can't help with the blood pressure thing as I'm the opposite most of the time.

Hey Laura, so good to see you back here :D I am on Losartan and Amlodipine and don't appear to be having side effects from them. Worth giving a try to see how you get on with them.
