Have been diabetic for 12 years type 1 recently fitted pump. Excelent back up from Leicester specialist nurses but at 75 years old takes nearly as much learning as computer short hand, fortunately DAFNE first. you had better believe it.

Hi geoffreyray, welcome to the forum 🙂 Great to hear that you have a pump and good support from your team! If you have any pump-related questions, please ask in our pumping section - lots of very experienced people there to help you out with any queries.

I think you are our most senior pumper! Did you find it difficult getting approval?

Thanks for speedy reply, northerner. it took 2 years of nagging my specialist and lousy B>G> results for 10 years in spite of DAFNE and DESMOND courses. Yes I suppose I must be in with a chance of being one of the oldest, perhaps we should start a competition. On a weightier note some of the correspondent's pleas for help had me in tears I had no idea NHS services were so patchy, I wish I had more informed help to give. I would say that a pump appears to be the answer for me.

It is terrible the variations in quality of care available up and down the country. I think having a forum like ours can help enormously in helping people understand what help they should be receiving, and giving them the support and information they need to fight for it 🙂

It is very encouraging to hear that your team were able to provide you with a solution 🙂

Welcome to the forum geoffreyray 🙂
