And I'm worried that ill get knocked back again.

*fingers crossed* for a good result

Good luck and try not to worry. I expect they just want to check that you know how much work is involved.

Hope it goes well.

Your surgery are going to have a shock test-strips wise if you go on a pump!!

Yeah I've seen the guidelines for Leeds for pump users but it's a few years old, 6 boxes will make my GP have a do!
Got a text this morning to say the surgery have done my script to 3 boxes a month! Yay!!!!

good luck laura! hope all goes well and you gt the thumbs up. ook forward to welcoming you back here as an approved pump user! Let us know how you get on.

That's still only 5 tests a day, which I would consider an absolute minimum with no flexibility for testing other than pre-meal and pre-bed. You will be testing at least twice that often on the pump, I would have thought, so you may still have a battle on your hands!

Oh goodie another fight on testing strips.
If I get a pump, ill ask the consultant for it in writing for test strips, I did think 6 boxes was low but wasn't going to argue with what I read

Northerner, the guidelines I'm reading are from march 2011, wonder if there will be 2013 ones soon?

Hi Laura
Good luck with the clinic
As far as strips go you may need a few more to set up basals and teak basals ( which unfortunately is something that needs doing from time to time) but 150 per month is a hugh improvement on 50-. For regular use it depends how often you want to check after meals- whether you are still prone to a lot of hypos/ hypo unaware etc etc. 150 a month may be enough when things are stable
If the pump request is not successful straight away or there is a long wait it might be worth asking to try levemir- you could then split the dose and have a lower night time dose ( I seem to recall you are prone to overnight drops)

Hi abi, thanks for that. Ill ask if it's possible given the out come.
I hope 10 years more experience counts for something this time!

Good luck for today.

Good luck for today 🙂

Good luck Laura, I hope you get what you want. Reference your strips, I use a minimum of 7 to 8 a day:

on waking up
before breakfast
2 hours after breafast
before lunch
2 hours after lunch
before dinner
2 hours after dinner
before bed

I don't believe this to be extravagant and this gives me the control that I am happy with, if I didn't test as often I'm pretty sure my control would not be as good.

Also at first when you are trying to sort out your basal profile you will go through more.........you will feel like you are newly diagnosed again when you satrt pumping.....but....it is so worth it!🙂

I've been accepted subject to funding :D

woo HOOO!!!! well done. you must be so relieved.
